The right candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of Coast RTA’s fleet of diesel and gas powered vehicles, including buses, body-on-chassis vehicles (paratransit vans) and all support vehicles. They will assist with related duties as acquired from the Maintenance Manager. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the machinery and supporting functions. Duties/Responsibilities: • Diagnoses and repairs mechanical and electrical repairs on fleet as indicated on work orders or discovered during inspection; • Must be able to learn software to open/close work orders, log services performed, document work hours, parts used and repairs completed on a daily basis; • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and reviewing systems; • Responds to road calls and/or vehicle breakdowns; • Troubleshoots engine performance and repair; • Troubleshoots transmission performance and repair; • Vehicle maintenance/repair will include, but is not limited to the following major component parts and/or system: power and drive trains, electrical, suspension, brakes, air system, chassis, steering and alignment, fuel, emissions, exhaust, heating and a/c, coolant, accessibility features, and all other current and future features of a public transit vehicle; • Additional duties as required. Required Skills/Education & Experience: Technical certification(s) from ASE is preferred but not required, in house training offered. Valid Class B CDL (Minimum) or permit obtained in 90 days.
