About the job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team, specializing in the design and supply of material handling systems. This position will focus on the design and supply of unit handling and warehouse type conveying systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the design process, project management, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of projects. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong technical, organizational, and communication skills to manage multiple projects from concept to completion. Job Duties Design and Engineering: • Lead the design of material handling systems. • Conduct site visits and field measurements to gather critical data for design and project planning. • Develop design concept drawings, layouts, and specifications to meet customer requirements and industry standards. • Create bills of materials (BOMs) and ensure accuracy in all design documentation. • Project Management • Plan and coordinate all aspects of a project, including scope definition, scheduling, and budget management. • Facilitate project kick-off meetings, design reviews, status updates, and project acceptance to ensure alignment with stakeholders. • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure timely delivery and quality outcomes. • Manage all project documentation and communications, ensuring records are accurate, organized, and up to date. • Customer And Stakeholder Collaboration • Attend stakeholder meetings to understand project requirements, address concerns, and provide technical expertise. • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, sales teams, engineering, production, and external resources. • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and other key stakeholders to foster trust and collaboration. • Sales And Proposals • Support the sales team by preparing detailed proposals, cost estimates, and technical documentation. • Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions that meet their business objectives. • Cross-Functional Coordination • Facilitate collaboration between internal teams, including engineering, purchasing, production, and external resources, to ensure seamless project execution. • Work closely with purchasing and production teams to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials. • Continuous Improvement • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the design and project management workflows. • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and advancements in material handling systems to enhance the company’s offerings. • Education & Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. • 3+ years of experience in the design and supply of material handling conveyor systems with a focus on unit handling and warehouse type conveying systems. • Proven experience in project management, including scope, schedule, and budget management. • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) for creating engineering drawings and layouts. • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) for creating engineering drawings and layouts. • Strong understanding of material handling systems and components. • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to material handling and conveying systems. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams. • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results. • Physical Demands • This position may require frequent travel for site visits, stakeholder meetings, and field measurements. • Work is performed in both office and field environments, requiring adaptability to varying conditions. • Licenses & Certifications • Degreed Mechanical Engineer or equivalent experience. • Experience in warehouse conveying systems and unit handling applications. • Knowledge of ERP systems for BOM creation and project tracking. • Familiarity with proposal writing and sales processes. • Company Information Motion offers an excellent benefits package which includes options for healthcare coverage, 401(k), tuition, reimbursement, vacation, sick, and holiday pay. PE Senior Mechanical Engineer to Associate Partner of the firm. Overview: We’re hiring a Mechanical Engineer to step into a leadership role on mission-critical infrastructure projects — with a clear path to partnership for the right person who brings a multidisciplinary background and long-term mindset.
