Discover more at Lam Benefits Job Descriptions: Essential Function: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for creating, evaluating, implementing, and monitoring, manufacturing processes related to silicon and other materials. Responsible for across-the-board manufacturing processes including machining, lapping, polishing, and clean room processes. Will interact with all levels of the business to initiate, substantiate, and implement process improvements. The rapid prototype manufacturing (RPM) role is responsible for the launch of new products into the production environment using gated program launch tools. This key role provides the flawless launch of new products from concept/prototype through and including first article and production initiation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Follow all company safety policies and report any unsafe conditions to Engineering Manager, EHS Manager, and/ or Director of Manufacturing • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Company Quality Management System and apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate • Apply lean manufacturing concepts, DMAIC, and other problem solving tools • Evaluates existing manufacturing methods and sequences and recommends/implements improvements that increase efficiency, reduce cost, reduce waste, etc. • Evaluates and tests alternative products that improve Silfex’s technical manufacturing capabilities, resulting in throughput increase, cost reduction, and yield improvement. • Participates in the Material Review Board (MRB) recommending alternate process configurations that result in the conservation of material. • Creates manufacturing methods and inspection plans from prints provided by customers to achieve specifications • Understand concepts of CNC machining and CMM inspection. Coordinate with CNC and CMM programmers to achieve required specifications. • Coordinates with customer on design changes for manufacturability. • Responsible to ensure feasibility of manufacturing process. • Work with cross-functional teams including business development, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Operations. • Understands and can apply process control (SPC) and measurement systems analysis (MSA) • Prepares reports/presentations by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends • Perform tasks/duties related to special projects or assignments • Perform other duties as assigned by department management Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or equivalent. • 5+ Years of relevant experience desired in a manufacturing environment. • CNC machining experience strongly recommended • Working knowledge of GD&T • Application Lean tools to manufacturing processes to achieve improved performance metrics • Application of problem solving tools such as cause & effect, design of experiment (DOE) and follow problem solving process such as A3, DMAIC, or 8D • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as trigonometry, algebra and statistical techniques • Must be able to work effectively individually and in a team environment. • Must be able to pay close attention to details. • Project experience beneficial. • MSOffice Suite, SPC knowledge (JMP or Minitab) desirable Equipment Operated: • Office equipment (computers), printers, copiers, etc. Culture: • Display a positive attitude and strong work ethic that reflects the Mission and Core Values of Silfex. • Create and maintain a culture where workplace safety is part of everything we do.
