Job Summary Battelle is seeking to hire a Mechanical Engineer to support our team on site in Oxnard, CA. The person selected for this position will be responsible for the maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of existing mechanical systems as well as supporting the design and integration of new systems. This position is part of a team composed of engineers, technicians and support staff that provide maintenance and design support for electronic, mechanical and hydraulic systems in support of a long-term client program. This position requires an active security clearance at the Top Secret/SCI w/CI poly level. The person selected for this position must have a minimum of a TS clearance and be willing to accept a delayed offer contingent on receiving required clearance to support this position. Responsibilities • Maintaining, testing and troubleshooting existing mechanical systems as part of an integrated technical team. • Maintaining, testing and troubleshooting existing mechanical systems independently with minimal oversight. • Working closely with the Battelle engineers located in Columbus OH to design, fabricate and integrate new mechanical systems. • Working closely with onsite clients and associate contractors to define system requirements and integrate systems. • Generating and interpreting mechanical schematics. • Generating and following installation and testing procedures within a stringent client quality assurance system. • Must be willing to travel and work temporary assignments up to 120 days if needed. Key Qualifications • Experience with embedded systems design and troubleshooting. • Experience with electronic/mechanical and hydraulic systems. • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications. • Ability to work within stringent client-driven quality assurance program. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Working knowledge of CAD/modeling programs Salary Pay rate: $110,000-$130,000 This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors. Duties: • Assist in the analysis of canister, deluge, etc. support equipment, both mechanical and electromechanical, failures. • Determine failure root cause of equipment failures and determine corrective action and mitigation procedures. • Create and update Technical Data Packages (TDPs) for Launcher Support equipment as required. • Create and process TDP Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for Launcher Support equipment as required. • Create and process Notice of Revisions (NORs) for Launcher Support equipment as required. Required Experience: • 5+ years hands-on experience in mechanical hardware design and troubleshooting • Must be familiar with common tools. • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and techniques. • Strong experience with SolidWorks. • Excellent mechanical debugging skills are required. • Knowledge of Department of the Navy (DoN) TDP, NOR, and ECP processes. • Experience as an instructor or teacher is a plus. • Competency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) is required. Required Education: • BSME or equivalent engineering degree required. • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering will be considered.
