Mechanical Designer

Mechanical Designer - Fabrication Crawford Company is seeking a Mechanical Designer in the Fabrication Division. This position works directly with project managers and shop personnel to produce drawings suitable for fabrication. The designer also assists with developing and maintaining Fabrication drawing standards and templates. Primary Responsibilities • Create detailed fabrication drawings for Fabrication department. • Create 3D concept models to convey design intent to customers. • Work directly with project managers to coordinate project requirements. • Make day-to-day design decisions based on industry and Company standards. • Work directly with suppliers to incorporate information into designs. • Support additional departments including Architectural, Brew, HVAC, Plumbing, Monoxivent and FRP. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required Experience and Skills • Fabrication-level modeling using Solidworks. • Auto-CAD capabilities • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, structural, and architectural drawings. • Proficient with Microsoft Office products; Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint. • Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and stay organized. Preferred Qualifications • Sheetmetal modeling experience. • Architectural drafting experience. • Engineering degree a plus. Compensation commensurate with experience and background. Required Qualifications and Skills • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field is required. • Previous internship experience in building design consulting is preferred. • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification is a plus. • Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and concepts for creating technical plans and specifications. • Strong technical and analytical skills, with knowledge of thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics as related to mechanical systems design in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection for buildings. • Experience with industry-standard engineering software, including HVAC load calculation tools, is beneficial. • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment. • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities. • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges. • Basic knowledge of BIM software is advantageous. • Effective verbal and written communication skills for both individuals and groups. • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook. • Willingness to travel up to 5% for occasional overnight assignments.
