Description: The Mechanical Engineer will research, design, and test mechanical equipment and machinery. Duties/Responsibilities: • Designs products such as machines, instruments, and controls. • Create projects plans and cost analysis • Works with a design team to create design sketches, layouts, and plans. • Uses computer aided design (CAD) software to create preliminary and detailed drawings of the product. • Produces specifications for products and chooses raw materials and components to be used in production. • Research, design and implement R&D process improvements. • Builds models and prototypes of the product and tests the design. • Studies the test data and creates reports to validate designs. • Work with service shops to develop maintenance procedures. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements: Skills/Abilities: • Willing to learn and implement innovation quickly via rapid prototyping. • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities. • Easily adaptable to change. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Excellent mechanical and technical skills. • Proficient with SolidWorks computer aided design (CAD) software. • Able to run FEA analysis • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Understands all phases of manufacturing and fabrication of heavy equipment. • Understands power transmissions, hydraulics, electronics, and engine performance. • Occasional travel required to evaluate products operating out in the field. • Must be able to communicate in English. Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required. • Three years of related experience preferred. Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time. • Must be able to access and inspect all areas of machinery.
