*Mechanical Engineer 4 (NSSS Component Design) - Now Hiring

POSITION SUMMARY: The Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) design engineering organization generates technical requirements and associated design parameters for the modular advanced light water reactor (ALWR) NSSS. Utilizing proven state-of-the-art methodologies NSSS components are engineered to nuclear industry standards. The person in this position will perform a range of activities associated with the design, analysis, and manufacture of pressure vessels, related components, reactor vessel internals, and/or supports in accordance with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), Section III, and applicable regulatory requirements. All work within the NSSS Engineering design organization is completed under ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements and respective U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Prepare and review engineering specifications, reports, and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of components, systems, and structures associated with the NSSS. • Maintain and revise computer-aided design (CAD) models using Siemens NX and related engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14 standards and best practices. • Utilize the results from BPVC Section III evaluations to optimize component design. • Collaborate with peers in different organizations and engage in the engineering change control process to ensure design decisions are well-communicated and well-understood. • Review design work of other groups (within and without the NuScale organization) to gain and maintain an understanding of how components, systems, and structures will work together. • Speak to the design of NSSS Components in discussions with manufacturing partners to ensure design intent is maintained while fabrication of components is considered. • Mentor and train other engineers or interns in sound approaches and standards for solving problems in technical areas of expertise. • Plan, organize, and perform innovative engineering assignments on a team dedicated to the development of an engineering project; interpret scope and requirements of projects with an ability to execute. • Perform other duties as assigned. A professional engineer (PE) license is required. • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of full-time relevant working experience is required. Candidates must be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience with engineering design, including personal accountability for design decisions. Must have a Thorough understanding of engineering drawings per ASME Y14 as well as significant design experience with commercial nuclear components or BPVC Section III. Mechanical Engineer 1 (NSSS Piping & Integration)

The person in this position will learn how to and will perform design and stress analyses of piping in accordance with ASME BPVC Section III, and outer components based on applicable regulatory requirements. All work within the NSSS design organization is completed under ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements and respective U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform and check engineering evaluations in accordance with NuScale company procedures and the requirements defined in the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section III and the ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code with direction provided by senior engineers. • Prepare engineering deliverables, including equipment specifications, CAD models, drawings, and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of piping, pipe supports and other components associated with the NSSS with direction provided by senior engineers. • Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Process Mechanical Engineer - Full-time
