Mechanical Designer

CMI, Inc. is the leading manufacturer of breath alcohol testing instruments in the U.S., Canada, and around the world. Mechanical designers create designs and technical drawings for mechanical devices and equipment by working closely with engineers and operations to develop and improve manufacturing systems and processes, and to create drawings. The Mechanical Designer facilitates Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout, and develops prototype systems and assemblies. Maintains the documents necessary to efficiently control production, service, and engineering controls as well as transition productions from Engineering to Production. Primary Responsibilities • Responsible for the day-to-day performance of design and development of products and components utilizing 3D CAD modeling techniques. • Design, update, and communicate components and systems per customer, engineering, and production directions. • Integrate efficient manufacturing and assembly practices in product designs. • Create and update 3D design models and create 2D drawings through the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process. • Utilize strong technical knowledge of mechanical, graphic, physical, and geometric specifications to complete product components and designs. • Review design concepts, verify design through 3D layouts, and present results during review sessions. • Assist in developing computer-generated product models and components in support of target goals and objectives. • Develop, maintain, and modify Bills of Material, ECNs, and existing designs as necessary in the production development process. • Work with Engineering Team to develop cable assemblies, wiring harnesses, etc. • Review and evaluate design concepts through prototype builds. • Assist Production as needed with assembly instructions and process procedures and ensure that designs meet defined guidelines. • Ensure adherence to all CAD and drafting standards. • Distribute as required engineering documentation, Engineering Change Notices (ECN), drawings, and specifications. • Create and maintain file conversions as required from CAD data (i.e. .iges, .dxf, .stl and .pdf formats). • Maintain old, new, and obsolete part numbers within the identification system. • Assist in the selection of vendors and purchasing quotes for individual parts. • Complete assignments and supporting roles promptly. • Ability to travel to customer and vendor sites for projects and/or training, as needed. Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to join our team. The Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce cost, and improve quality. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a deep understanding of process engineering principles. Key Responsibilities - Process Design and Implementation • Develop and design processes and procedures for new and existing products, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements. • Implement process changes and improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency. • Produce production documentation for both new and revised production processes. Process Controls Engineer

SUMMARY: The Process Controls Engineer leads the digitalization of factory process data, Lead engineering projects at the factory focused on Quality, Savings, Capacity and Innovation objectives. Manage projects from Ideation through Commercialization to deliver objectives on-time and within budget. Maintain visibility on all capital and supports all plant and plant trial needs for industrial controls programming. Supports utilities, processing, and packaging operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Successfully scope, approve, install, and commission capital projects fully utilizing Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians when possible. • Engage and lead contractors as required to deliver successful projects on time and within budget. • Responsible for maintaining Batch Management System • Responsible for Batch/Recipe changes, updates, revisions, and new formula development within the Batch Management System • Responsible for all programming and process changes due to Capital installations and R&D innovation developments. • Must be willing to work a flexible shift to cover initial runs of new product innovations to verify programming. • Perform Root Cause Analysis of unexpected outcomes, develop recommendations and resolve manufacturing problems identified within plant operations. QUALIFICATIONS: • Engineering degree or minimum 10 years’ experience programming and implementing industrial controls in a high-speed food production environment. • Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineer preferred with 3 – 5 years industrial controls of bottling plant experience implementing capital projects in high-speed packaging and processing environment. • SCADA system implementation experience (Ignition preferred). • Industrial control system (PLC) programming experience in production environment. • PMP preferred. • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deliver results. • Ability to work with all organization levels (hourly, management, corporate). • Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills. • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. • Up to 10% travel depending on workload.
