JOB SUMMARY: Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making design decisions and/or modifications. Provide manufacturing engineering support to operations. ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES: • Analyze and design complex parts and assemblies to applicable standards. • Provide technical data and assist in decision making process that impact compliance with design specifications. • Assist in design, analysis of design, testing of design, and qualification of the design for production and sale to the public. • Participate on projects teams. • Create documents related to the design engineering function (i.e., layout drawings, detail drawings, assembly drawings, Bills of Materials, Engineering Change Orders, and design records). • Create documentation required to ensure the product can be produced as designed. • Identify and develop processes for engineering efficiencies (Change Order process, Special process, etc.). • Provide sales support by analyzing architectural layouts for special products. Design, develop, and cost the special product. SECONDARY DUTIES: • Develop and improve mechanical design processes for better efficiency. • Identify improvement opportunities and lead the implementation of process improvements to reduce cost, improve changeover, increase quality and repeatability. • Design tools and fixturing to improve the work piece holding capability for assembly and machining processes. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is preferred. 2+ years of experience in a design engineering role, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
