Summary/Objective The Apprentice supports the work of a mechanic-level tradesperson in installation, and repair of mechanical systems by preforming the duties below. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Help prepare the job site by eliminating or controlling safety hazards. • Promote a safe work environment by observing GMCI’s safety policies. • Gather and transport tools and material. • Assist mechanic in demolition, service, and repair of plumbing, piping, and/or duct systems. • Assist mechanic in installation of plumbing, piping, and/or duct systems. • Assist mechanic in the installation and repair of plumbing, process, and/or HVAC equipment. • Safely operate and/or spot those operating aerial work platforms. • Act as fire watch when hot work is taking place. • Safely operate power tools and equipment used in demolition, repair, and installation processes. • Safely operate machinery such as forklifts, mini excavators, and skid loaders. • Help collect tools and material for storage at the end of each day. • Help keep a tidy work environment free of debris and clutter. • Preform any other miscellaneous duties that supervision deems appropriate to execute the work assignment; this list may not be inclusive of all duties assigned to those in the Apprentice position.
