About the position Join our team of engineers with JASPER's Indiana Tool & Die division! Design and development are critical to ensuring JASPER has the best product on the market today. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for helping identify and improve designs. You will also design and develop tooling, parts, and fixtures for processes and make improvements to current designs on product from the team. This role requires a strong focus on solid modeling and the creation of detailed drawings, as well as establishing and maintaining vendor relations to identify part improvement opportunities. You will provide technical support to internal departments including Production, Quality, and Purchasing, and aid in the evaluation of sample parts from vendors. Regular communication with supervisors, engineers, and other shop personnel is essential for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues. You will also interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner, and may perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor. Some light duty lifting is required (up to 35 pounds) and using a hoist for heavy lifting to cut metal and install and remove tooling and work pieces from the machine. Simple grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling, finger dexterity, foot movement, bending, squatting, twisting, and reaching are all required at times. Requirements • Organized, detailed, and focused. , • The ability to follow instruction and communicate clearly. , • Proficient with developing 2-D drawings utilizing AutoCAD. , • Proficient with using 3-D modeling software (Solidworks and Design X). , • The ability to independently manage projects. , • The ability to accomplish assigned tasks within allocated time frame. , • Intermediate knowledge and ability to use precision measuring instruments including calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, scales, and CMM/Faro-arm/Metra-Scan. , • Adaptable to changing work environments, competing demands, and able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. , • The ability to take verbal and written instructions and work from handmade sketches. , • Follow all safety policies and procedures. , • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent preferred.
