Fleet Mechanic

Fleet Mechanic Job Summary This is a hands-on role that requires experience with heavy-duty diesel equipment. As a Fleet Technician, you will be responsible for performing repairs and preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers. If you have the skills and knowledge to get the job done, we want to hear from you! About the Job: This role involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, rebuilding, replacing, and completing all required repairs on diesel equipment, including tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc. Key Responsibilities: • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.). • Perform regular maintenance within regulatory standards. • Receive road calls, assign third-party vendors, work with business partners on a plan of action. • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations. • Utilize fleet maintenance software system tablets to fully document equipment repair and parts used. • Support other maintenance shop personnel as needed. • Develop willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications. Requirements: N/A Working Relations: • Internal: All Fleet Technicians, Drivers, Coordinators and Manager. • External: Vendor service providers when required. Work Environment: You will be expected to perform assigned responsibilities inside a maintenance facility. Qualifications: • Must have three years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic. • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs. • Independent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Prior experience in administering appropriate preventive maintenance programs. • Must furnish own personal hand tools. A quarterly tool allowance will be provided. Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Certifications/Training: N/A Licenses: A valid driver's license is required. Preferred Qualifications: • A valid Class-A CDL license and DOT certification are preferred. • welding ability. • Able to read and write legibly; follow orders; basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide). Compensation: Salary depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $35.00 and $40.00. This role will also receive overtime compensation.
