Senior Mechanical Engineer (NH)

Description: Rist-Frost-Shumway Engineering, P.C. (RFS), a growing 105+-person consulting engineering firm with offices in Laconia, NH, Boston, MA, and Portland, ME is seeking candidates to join our talented and team-focused staff. RFS project types include college/university, healthcare, laboratory, private secondary school, public K-12 school, commercial, industrial, government, and historic preservation - all with a focus on sustainable design. Positions require BSME and 10+ years’ experience designing and leading design teams for building HVAC systems, including all or some of the following: Thermal Energy Generation and Distribution – Hot Water, Steam, Chilled Water, Fluid System Modeling (w/ Pipe-Pro), Geothermal Wellfields, Water-Source Heat Pumps, Air-Source Heat Pumps, Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning, Energy Recovery, Precision Temperature and Humidity Control, Radiant Heating and Cooling, Building Automation and Control, Master Plan Development, Sustainable Design Including Support for Certification – LEED, LBC, PHIUS, WELL. In addition to technical experience, desirable candidates will have strong written and oral communication skills and be comfortable in client-facing settings. In lieu of, or in addition to HVAC systems design experience, candidates with 10+ years’ experience with energy modeling and life cycle cost analysis for buildings and building systems will be considered. Thermal Engineer

Thermal Engineer- Our fast-paced Laconia, NH client is seeking a Thermal Engineer for their dynamic team. This full-time, direct-hire role will help find and deliver creative solutions to customers’ challenging thermal and mechanical design requirements. Thermal R&D Design Engineer

Job Description: BOYD is looking for a Thermal Research and Design Engineer to join our Design Center team here in New Hampshire's Lakes Region. This region of NH offers many year-round outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, fishing, boating, etc. In this position you will help our customers find and develop creative solutions to meet their challenging thermal and mechanical design requirements. BOYD's engineering team performs mechanical, thermal, industrial, electrical design and analysis as well as product development and prototyping services. Our global engineering team consists of 350+ engineers spanning a variety of fields and disciplines. Our clientele represent a wide spectrum of industries spanning from telecommunications, medical devices, server and data center, aerospace, power, consumer products and beyond. SUMMARY: • Conduct single and two-phase fluid flow and heat transfer research on both passive and actively pumped systems and apply those learnings to the development of new electronic cooling products. • Evaluate the most challenging electronics cooling applications with customers and propose highest performing design concepts using single and two-phase flow. • Conduct theoretical thermal and mechanical analyses, design sizing, and CFD/FEA simulations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Education and Training • M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related fields, graduate level work in two-phase flow and heat transfer theoretical, experimental and computational methods. Strong foundation in other heat transfer modes like conduction, convection, and radiation. • Familiarity with research publications and literature in the above topical areas. • Hands on work in a heat transfer research or test lab. Experience • A strong understanding of the fundamental physics of heat transfer, mass transfer, and fluid flow including two-phase flow and heat transfer. • Familiarity with heat transfer experimental methods and instrumentation. • Familiarity with modeling and conducting CFD simulations preferably including two-phase flow and heat transfer. • Demonstrated initiative and independent problem-solving capabilities. • Ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Exceptional organization, coordination, and consultation skills.
