Senior Mechanical Engineer (NH)

Description: Rist-Frost-Shumway Engineering, P.C. (RFS), a growing 105+-person consulting engineering firm with offices in Laconia, NH, Boston, MA, and Portland, ME is seeking candidates to join our talented and team-focused staff. RFS project types include college/university, healthcare, laboratory, private secondary school, public K-12 school, commercial, industrial, government, and historic preservation - all with a focus on sustainable design. Positions require BSME and 10+ years’ experience designing and leading design teams for building HVAC systems, including all or some of the following: Thermal Energy Generation and Distribution – Hot Water, Steam, Chilled Water, Fluid System Modeling (w/ Pipe-Pro), Geothermal Wellfields, Water-Source Heat Pumps, Air-Source Heat Pumps, Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning, Energy Recovery, Precision Temperature and Humidity Control, Radiant Heating and Cooling, Building Automation and Control, Master Plan Development, Sustainable Design Including Support for Certification – LEED, LBC, PHIUS, WELL. In addition to technical experience, desirable candidates will have strong written and oral communication skills and be comfortable in client-facing settings. In lieu of, or in addition to HVAC systems design experience, candidates with 10+ years’ experience with energy modeling and life cycle cost analysis for buildings and building systems will be considered. PE required for HVAC design positions. PE or CEM is required for energy-focused positions. Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer Direct Hire! Up to $112,000/yr. depending on experience Overview: Our client's design centers provide mechanical, thermal, industrial, and electrical design as well as prototyping services. Our global design team consists of 100+ engineers spanning a variety of fields and disciplines. Our clientele represents a wide spectrum of industries spanning from telecommunications, medical devices, server and data center, aerospace, power, consumer products and beyond. In this position you will help our customers find and develop creative solutions to meet their challenging thermal and mechanical design requirements. If you have not worked on thermal analysis, design, and testing, be prepared to learn from our current experts and add that to your current engineering knowledge. Duties/Responsibilities: • Function as a key member of our local NH design center team by being a key contributor on cross functional global teams of designers, thermal engineers, mechanical engineers, and manufacturing personnel. • Develop next generation products and new technologies through creative design. • Provide mechanical design, engineering, research, documentation, testing, and prototype support. • Analyze and resolve project issues utilizing sound engineering practices and methodologies. • Engage with clients, factories, and vendors relating to design projects. Education/Experience: • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering with 8 or more years of experience, or a Master’s degree (M.S. or M.E.) in Engineering with 4 or more years of experience. Specialization in heat transfer or a subject area of the thermal sciences is preferred. Additional experience with two-phase heat transfer is a plus. • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a product development or manufacturing environment utilizing a variety of materials and manufacturing processes. • Must be proficient in CAD (SolidWorks preferred), and knowledge of FEA / CFD (ANSYS) is a plus. • Ability to demonstrate strong mechanical design skills of electromechanical products including consumer electronics and medical devices, or other devices with highly integrated electronics. • Candidate must have a “can do” attitude, be a team player, take charge when necessary and be entrepreneurial. • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US on commercial and government projects (i.e. ITAR) Job Type: Full-time Pay: Up to $112,000.00 per year Benefits: • 401(k) matching • Dental insurance • Health insurance • Life insurance • Paid time off • Vision insurance Ability to Commute: • Laconia, NH 03246 (Required) Ability to Relocate: • Laconia, NH 03246: Relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location: In person
