Mechanical Technician

Description: We're looking for a Mechanical Technician for a 3–6-month contract, with the potential for a permanent position. You'll report to our Senior Advanced Mechanical Technician, playing a key role in our fast-paced R&D environment. For more information, visit www.vikendetection.com Responsibilities · Perform a wide range of mechanical assembly and rework tasks, including drilling, tapping, cutting metals, fitting parts, troubleshooting alignment issues, and general fabrication. · Work closely with engineering on new projects, often starting from models, sketches, or even "napkin" designs, without established procedures. · Juggle multiple projects simultaneously, adapting quickly to changing priorities and tasks. · Primarily work on large equipment assembly, mobile vehicles, truck-sized structures, and some smaller bench-top subassemblies with rotating and moving components. · Be comfortable with indoor and outdoor work year-round, including in field construction settings around cranes and excavators, and perform tasks on lifts up to 15 feet high. · Handle miscellaneous tasks like moving materials, driving supplies, and running errands to local hardware stores. · Opportunities to travel domestically and internationally to support customers and system installation Requirements: · Experience testing and operating electro-mechanical systems. · 5-10 years of experience in R&D or manufacturing technician roles. · Any Massachusetts hoisting license (especially skid steer, forklift, crane with wire rope) is a strong advantage. · Strong understanding of mechanical principles and hands-on fabrication skills. · Proficiency with mills and lathes, any welding experience is a significant asset. · Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with frequent project switching and a comfort level with ambiguous instructions. Job Summary: The Senior Mechanical Engineer serves to work in a fast-paced multi-discipline team environment. The position responsibilities primarily are focused on the design of mechanical systems for new facilities, additions, and renovation projects. This will require providing technical leadership for the creation of construction drawings and specifications, existing system studies and master planning efforts. Qualified candidates will meet with clients, project teams, code officials, contractors, and others to develop collaborative working relationships. In this role, you will: • Develop mechanical system designs based on scope of work and/or client requirements. • Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems for a variety of building types. • Perform load and energy calculations with software such as IES and similar programs. • Conduct existing building surveys and document existing mechanical systems. • Develop system design and selection of equipment based on engineering calculation and analysis. • Develop project specifications. • Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies. • Complete code compliance research. • Coordinate work with other disciplines. • Provide construction administration services, including site visits during construction, submittal review, and RFI responses. • Perform QA/QC of design work. • Oversee and provide guidance to junior engineers and designers. • Lead project teams and serve as a primary contact for clients. • Assist in the procurement of new work, including the development of client relations and participation in project interviews. Job Title: Sr ElectroMechanical Integration Engineer (Assembly and Test) Pay Rate: $64 to $70/HR Duration: 12 months Location: Newton, MA (Onsite) Shift: 8:30 am - 5:30 pm (Flexible) This position is for the Healthcare Diagnostics division. We are looking for a Sr ElectroMechanical Integration Engineer (Assembly and Test) who will be a part of the R&D organization and an important contributor to the realization of the next generation robotic platform that will change the future of healthcare. You will be a visible technical resource working on the development of complex electro-mechanical assemblies. There will be direct contribution from prototype to verification builds and tests within a regulated medical device development environment. This role is suited for a hands-on, senior-level R&D engineer with multi-disciplinary knowledge (Mechanical, electrical, and Software) proficient in integrating complex electromechanical systems and experience in troubleshooting when needed, performing configuration management, managing component inventories, and advising on design improvements. • Maintain and upgrade fleet of robotic systems for R&D development • Lead system configuration management to support system traceability for various R&D activities • Lead hands-on, disciplined system troubleshooting activities working closely with different engineering disciplines • Author relevant documents related to process improvements • Develop test methods, protocols, execute tests, prepare reports, and release them via ECOs • Support system builds, inventory management, and procurement activities • Lead/support detailed planning (BOM, procurement, etc.) and the future builds. Associate’s degree with exceptional experience is acceptable. • Experience in heavily-regulated industries such as medical device or aerospace is required • Must have proven track record of hands-on experience in assembly and test of electro-mechanical systems • Ability to deconstruct complex problems into manageable components to derive effective solutions is required. • Must be proficient in fixture and process validation is required. • Must have experience in cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership • Must have experience in project management, including task timeline estimation and work breakdown structures • Able to execute assigned projects and duties with minimal supervision • Outstanding documentation and communication skills required • Proficiency in using MS Office required • Knowledge of industry best practices for development of complex electromechanical systems • Previous experience in design transfer/new product introduction desired • Demonstrated CADproficiency desired.
