Job Description As the Tooling & Equipment Engineer you will support assembly operations, plant technical team, and product development projects with mechanical design solutions and assembly expertise by performing the following duties: Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned). • Provide assembly fixture and machine design, including manual, powered, semi-automated and automated solutions, from concept to production release supporting operations, plant projects and new product development. • Adhere to standard practices for CAD model development and data management practices. • Support new product development projects by providing design for assembly feedback, including guidance on critical dimensions, tolerances, and assembly stack-up. • Collaborate with plant engineering and maintenance teams, providing troubleshooting and equipment or process improvement support. • Meet deadlines for deliverables as provided by project teams. • Plan and advise maintenance personnel in machining, fabrication, and assembly of equipment, tooling, and fixturing. • Source and coordinate purchasing process for machine components from outside vendors. • Develop methods and devices for in-process testing and validation of product assemblies. • Assist and coordinate installation and validation of fixtures or devices to ensure proper operation and conformance with specifications. • Develop business cases and capital requests for the purchase of replacement machines and tooling. • Hands-on fabrication, light machining and installation of fixtures and equipment as required. Qualifications • Engineering degree from accredited four-year college or university. BSME preferred. • Preferred at least two (2) years of experience in work-holding fixture design, machine design, new product introductions, process improvements, error proofing, and process control in a high-volume assembly/ cellular manufacturing environment. • Detailed problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Additional Information Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $80,000 USD - $90,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan. You will develop, maintain and improve production processes. Engineer I, Product Development New Bern, NC / Full-time Your responsibilities The Product Development Engineer I functions in the Development Engineering Department in which the rapid development of highly innovative featured products is required. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide product design engineering expertise to household appliances that will positively affect and add value to our products. Included in these responsibilities are meeting customer expectations by developing the appropriate products and proving proper operation in a timely manner. • Development and design (3D-CAD modelling and drawings) of components, systems, sub-modules/modules and appliances according to the BSH product development process (PDP) • Support product quality and safety during development and sustaining engineering of products according to internal guideline, regulatory and agency standards as applicable. (UL/CSA, IEC) • Work closely with the lab for testing of appliances, parts and assemblies for performance (e.g., air flow, noise, structural integrity, etc.), safety (e.g., temperature, electrical, sharp edges) and reliability (e.g. lifetime performance) according to test plans. • Present and discuss test results to find solutions to problems. • Create, design, and develop parts, assemblies and appliances that are suitable for production and customer service. • Implementation of new and changed parts into production, preparing Engineering Change Requests (CR) • Develop and maintain BOMs. • Work with others in projects/design reviews using the experience and knowledge gained. • Plan and prepare for worst case studies • Release of newly developed or changed parts or appliances after testing (part release process) • Support assembly line in Pre-Pilot, Pilot, initial Production and continuing into Production • Ability to handle projects with different scopes and requirements. • Develop and maintain timeline of sub-projects and project related tasks in accordance with BSH PDP (Product Development Process) and deadlines • Recognition of critical parts and processes, generation and analysis of tolerance studies • Performs work under direct supervision • Perform all other duties as assigned.
