Mechanical Designer

Job Title: Mechanical DesignerJob Description We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to maintain effective mechanical design bases for transformer layouts and provide technical expertise to customers. The role involves reviewing projects, comparing customer specifications with other design data, and noting inconsistencies or special requirements. You will utilize operating programs to complete transformer mechanical designs, including internal and external layout of components and accessories. Responsibilities • Maintain effective mechanical design bases for transformer layouts. • Provide technical expertise to customers. • Review assigned projects, comparing customer specifications to other design data and noting inconsistencies or special requirements. • Utilize operating programs to function effectively. • Complete transformer mechanical design including internal and external layout of components and accessories based on documentation, standard practices, and/or technical advisors. • Calculate dimensions, allowances, and specifications per standard procedures or general design knowledge when standard procedures do not exist. • Provide technical support and training. • Assist supervisor in planning and scheduling design and detailing processes. • Direct or execute corrective action when shop problems are encountered. • Consult with shop and QA personnel on interferences or interpretation of engineering information. • Assist on development projects, including completion of standard processes or practices and computer programs. • Recommend and develop new procedures to improve the efficiency of the design and/or detailing process. • Support Quote Designers with bid or preliminary outlines and mechanical optimization. Essential Skills • Proven experience in mechanical design. • Ability to calculate dimensions, allowances, and specifications. • Proficiency in utilizing operating programs for design purposes. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with SAP systems. Work Environment The role offers the opportunity to work on transformer design and provide technical expertise to customers. It involves involvement in development projects and process improvement, as well as supporting Quote Designers in bid and preliminary outline development. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Goldsboro, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $90000.00/yr. Reference Prolec Summary of Benefits.
