Service Technician - Norfolk, VA Area

Description: C&C Boiler Sales and Service, Inc. is seeking a qualified Service Technician to join our team. We specialize in power plant, heating, mechanical contracting, and industrial products including packaged boilers, industrial burners, heat exchangers, and other boiler plant equipment for various applications. C&C Boiler provides new product sales, service, parts, technical support, testing, and training throughout Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Inspect equipment to identify and diagnose operational problems • Perform repairs, replace gaskets and miscellaneous controls & parts • Perform annual maintenance inspections • Troubleshoot and repair burners, all manufactures • Install new low-emissions burners • Retrofit boiler controls, including PLC, microprocessor, and instrumentation component/systems • Commission, troubleshoot and adjust combustion on a variety of burners and boilers • Document parts required for replacement & repair and provide detailed written documentation outlining services rendered • Request materials needed to complete tasks within company guidelines and budgets • Drive to multiple locations and transport materials to and from specific destinations (vehicle provided) • Submit electronic paperwork daily Job Benefits • Salary Range: $75,000-$150,000 DOE, to include overtime compensation • 401(k) Plan with 100% vested, 4% Safe Harbor Match: First 3% of deferral matched 100% and the second 2% of deferral is matched at 50% for a total available match of 4% • Company-sponsored insurance plan: Medical - Dental - Vision • Paid Time Off: 120 hours (3 weeks) • Paid Holidays: 7 • Fuel Card • Per Diem for out-of-town stays • Company Tablet and Cell Phone • Sign On Bonus Requirements: • OSHA safety training requirements / 10 Panel drug screen • 3+ years of boiler installation and maintenance experience • The ability to LOTO, drain, fill, operate, troubleshoot, inspect, and test hot water and steam boilers preferred • Electrical and mechanical experience is a must, preferably in an industrial environment • Lubrication, pneumatics, piping/plumbing repair, HVAC fundamentals, belt replacement, electrical schematics, and troubleshooting • Strong verbal and written communication skills; write routine reports and correspondence • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment • Proficient use of technology, computers, and software including Microsoft Office suite of products • Valid Driver’s License required. The primary duties of the Protection and Relaying Engineer position are to perform engineering tasks with varying levels of complexity, which are assigned by a Lead Project Engineer, Engineering Manager, or Project Manager. As a Protection and Relaying Project Engineer, your role will encompass the following: • Perform protective relay calculations and determine appropriate relay set points. • Perform protective relay coordination studies utilizing short circuit modeling software. • Develop relay setting files utilizing relay vendor software. • Produce relay coordination compliance reports for applicable NERC-PRC standards. • Produce required client protective relay reports. • Provide protective relay construction support. • Work under the direct supervision of a Senior Engineer, APM, or PM. • Work independently on tasks and may assist senior engineers on larger, more complex projects. • Some travel may be required. • Coordinate with other substation design disciplines (i.e., P&C design teams) P referred Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. • Minimum 4 years of experience doing electrical power system analysis, electrical system planning, protective device application, relay settings and/or substation design. • Familiar with power system analysis software: CAPE, Aspen, ETAP • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office, and electrical design software. • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects. • Familiarity with Transmission and Distribution industry protection schemes and philosophies. • Experience with substation voltages of 12kV thru 500kV desired, experience thru 765kV an added benefit. • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired. , Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Engineering • Professional Engineer (PE) license • Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector. • Computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software. 2024 Field Engineering Trainee - (Various Locations) Start Date: Fall 2025 Job Description Field Engineering Trainees in Norfolk Southern' s Maintenance of Way department play a vital role in our operations team. Trainees will train under current supervisors who are responsible for managing teams of unionized employees to directly lead the inspections, repair, and maintenance of our railroad tracks and bridges. Our extensive new hire trainee program will educate you on the intricacies of working on the railroad to accomplish this goal. During training, you will learn train and track dynamics, track inspection, construction, and maintenance operations, and much more. After successful completion of the six-month training program, you will be able to inspect our railroad tracks, remediate defects, manage maintenance employees such as rail gangs that replace rail and spikes, tie gangs that perform scheduled crosstie replacement, and bridge and structures gangs that maintain and repair the bridges and trestles on the railroad. Supervisors are responsible for managing a territory spanning dozens of miles that can include one or more rail terminals supporting an operation that runs 24/7.
