Mechanical Designer

Job Title: Mechanical Designer Job Description As a Mechanical Designer, you will work closely with the assigned project manager and Engineering Manager to communicate with customers, which may occasionally include travel to customer facilities for meetings, information collection, and taking accurate dimensional measurements for designs. You will perform basic engineering calculations for volume sizes, venting of tanks, stress/deflection to size beams, amendments, and columns/legs for assigned projects under guidance. Additionally, you will assist in specifying power transmission components, as well as pumps, valves, heat exchanges, and prepare requisitions for these components. You will design assemblies and parts using SOLIDWORKS 3D software, checking for interference, motion, and proper part mating, and generate 2D fabrication drawings with appropriate weld symbols, notes, dimensions, and tolerances per drafting standards. Your responsibilities will also include ensuring that contractual scope and specified requirements are met, maintaining and creating new parts for the OEM standard parts library, providing support to the fabrication department regarding drawing and parts information, and supporting sales and estimating departments in the preparation of pre-bid concept and general arrangement drawings. Work Environment You will join a team that currently consists of one lead designer who has been with the company for quite some time. This role will make you the second designer on the team.
