Mechanical Engineer

Summary As a Mechanical Engineer you will be an integral part of turning a concept into reality by performing the following duties: You must have a minimum of 5 years of experience to apply. Essential Functions • Performs engineering calculations to design products or systems based on objectives provided by the Project Manager. • Performs design analysis (bearing and gear calculations, stress analysis, etc.). • Prepares and reviews concepts, design layouts, or schematics to fulfill defined engineering objectives. • Recommends and selects components necessary to fulfill the design, including designing original components if not available commercially. • Participates in brainstorming sessions. • Reviews drawing packages to identify errors. • Ensures design package is complete including: assembly drawings, bills of material, etc. • Assists supervisor in applying accepted design and manufacturing fundamentals to meet design objectives. • Participates in coordination of the fabrication of the machine in the shop. • Participates in the debug and testing of the end products. • Determines part tolerances and materials consistent with project requirements. • Prepares bill of materials. • Participates in client reviews as appropriate. • Stays current concerning technological developments, design practices, and manufacturing processes. • Utilizes mechanical design standard operating procedures in the preparation of print packages. • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Project Manager or Design Manager. • Additional work hours as needed and required. • Additional Duties as assigned. • Travel on an as required basis. Requirements: Required: • Minimum 5 years of experience in a mechanical, hydraulics, or equivalent engineering role, preferably in a manufacturing-based company. • Minimum 5 years of experience in SolidWorks or similar CAD program, preferably including a PDM or configuration management module. • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, experience will be considered in lieu of education. • Proficiency in the development of detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies/tools, and fixtures, according to engineering descriptions, sketches, and design proposals. • Familiarity with machining and manufacturing processes, assembly procedures, and mechanical functions. • Skill using Windows-based personal computer applications, including Microsoft Office programs. Preferred: • MRP system experience such as Epicor, Visual, Oracle or equivalent 2. Engineering task management and customer/management report out experience, including task break-down from project milestones to finite tasks to track completion of projects.

Job Overview The mechanical designer will be engaged in the design of mechanical and electromechanical products for custom-ordered laboratory equipment. The successful candidate will create designs, assembly drawings, detail drawings, schematics and bills of material. Additionally, the designer will participate in multifunctional teams developing new products, which are the basis for future success and growth of the company. Application of relevant national and international codes and standards is required. Job Responsibilities • Design custom systems based on proven designs to meet customer requirements. • Enter information into enterprise resource planning software including item masters, materials lists and method of manufacture operations. • Prepare technical documentation packages to comply with national and international codes. • Initiate, evaluate, and complete engineering changes of standard product offerings. • Review sales order specifications and customer requirements to evaluate feasibility of design and adherence to quality requirements. • Support assembly and testing activities to ensure products and systems conform to sound engineering design, relevant codes and customer specifications. • Ensure sound engineering practices are followed in accordance with ISO 9001:2015, ASME, PED, CE and various other certification bodies. • Provide technical support to sales staff for the preparation of quotations and service-related inquiries. • Communicate effectively with personnel from other departments to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions. Required Qualifications · Associate’s degree in mechanical design or related field, relevant work experience considered. · 1-5 years mechanical design experience. · Strong technical knowledge of mechanical principles (force, pressure, stress, torque, friction, etc.). · Software knowledge: MS Office, ERP software, 3D CAD: part and assembly modeling, drawing creation, sheet metal (SolidWorks preferred). · Ability to read detail part prints, assembly prints, schematics and bills of material. · Ability to apply relevant national and international codes and standards. · Ability to work in a self-directed manner on assigned tasks. Compensation: Competitive compensation package, $55,000-$65,000 base pay, depending on qualifications and experience plus participation in bonus programs that traditionally exceed 10% of pay.
