Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary: Position works with Maintenance Supervisors, Assemblers, Fabrication, and Executive Management to conceptualize, design and develop prototypes, and to test designs for machine and process improvement. Creates clear and concise fabrication level dimensional drawings to support production, procurement, and engineering activities. Proactively assists and supports manufacturing to ensure designs are correct and fabricated to standards. Must have 5 or more years of experience in the machinery and manufacturing industry as a Mechanical Engineer. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Research and analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of designs or applications. Translate system configurations received from customers into concept designs using 2D and 3D assemblies, Bills of Material (BOM’s) and shop drawings. Designs may be new or based on existing products. Build and test prototypes or coordinate builds. 2. Follow design standards, select components from approved components list, and create bills of material. Provide mechanical designs and solutions based on mechanical engineering principles. Document design decisions and the technical information supporting the decisions made. 3. Provide technical advice and support to fabrication and coordination of manufacturing. Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems. Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification. 4. Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation. Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions. Assist quality department with quality, material, and process specifications, manufacturing failure analysis review, design issues and non-conformance material review. 5. Act as technical authority on assigned projects, working with a variety of materials. Assist with developing the structural design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software. 6. Practice personal safety and follow all area safety practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Read publications, attend showings, and study competing products and design styles to obtain perspective and generate design concepts 2. Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill. 3. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. 4. SUPERVISION: Receives guidance with respect to general objectives; in the majority of tasks and projects assigned determines methods, work sequence, scheduling, and how to achieve objectives of assignments; operates within specific policy guidelines. Requires knowledge of and compliance with Fox Packaging policies and procedures. REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering field from four-year College or university; and 5 to 10 years related experience and/or training in a manufacturing, plant operations, or engineering environment. Must be willing to spend substantial time in the manufacturing or prototyping areas. Must have practical knowledge of and experience with mechanical drafting and documentation, welded assemblies and documentation, machining, fabrication, electrical circuits, and general machine design principals and components. Experience with and ability to perform calculations to support design choices required. Must be proficient in MS office software, SolidWorks, AutoCAD software, and Lean Manufacturing principles. Requires the ability to organize and manage day-to-day events, work within deadlines, and plan for future challenges. Ability to establish priorities and make decisions. LANGUAGE SKILLS Requires excellent verbal and written skills and ability to facilitate constructive communication between departments. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to groups of customers or employees of the organization. Mechanical/Electrical Technician

Description (objectives of the position): As Mechanical Technician will be required to perform routine predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs for conveyor equipment, production equipment and support facility operations to minimize downtime. As Electrical Technician will be required to perform routine calibration, preventive maintenance and repairs to facility equipment, productions equipment and utilities to support facility operations. Duties and Responsibilities • Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all mechanical and electrical equipment as required • Trouble shoot problems in the event of equipment failure and recommend parts or solutions for effective repairs (mechanical and/or electrical). • Sets up, calibrate, tests, measure and repair all types of electrical controls, instruments, and electronic components. • Performs mechanical repairs in productions equipment. • Monitors and maintains conveyors, mechanical equipment, controls, and electrical equipment to ensure effective and efficient service. • Works with sanitation crews, guards, catch pans and related items. • Collects equipment operation history and data to facilitate reliability improvements. • Takes corrective action with people, parts, and tools to minimize downtown • Take preventative action with equipment to prolong life • Uses predictive maintenance and historical equipment data to understand and forecasts equipment maintenance, replacement, and performance. • Assist facility technicians and engineers in trouble shooting and diagnostic analysis • Utilize instruments, electronic schematics and basic facility tools as needed. • Read, writes, and assess drawings and mathematical formulas to determine equipment problems. • Maintain and control work order system and spare parts inventory. • Develops operating procedures for facility equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation. • Trains and develops other employees in performing preventive maintenance and routine equipment service activities • Must follow all instruction related to Food Defense, Good Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP program. Everyone at STS must report to the Food Safety Department or their direct supervisor any problem or irregular situation related to food safety. • Responsible for proper use of all mixing chemicals used in the maintenance process, cleaning/sanitation procedure. • Maintain logs and documents related to food safety. Mechanical Technician CARSTAR Collision Specialists McAllen, TX, 78501 JOB SUMMARY The Mechanical Technician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical damage of vehicles while ensuring safety and quality to ensure timely delivery of repaired vehicles. Additional responsibilities include performing light-heavy maintenance and service work. DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES • Analyze and evaluate damaged vehicles to determine repair or service needs and replacement of parts. • Accurately estimate costs for repairs, maintenance and service required. • Perform advanced, basic and minor repairs as required – brake and hydraulic, exhaust, engine and transmission, fuel ignition, electrical, suspension and alignment, restraints and airbags, air conditioning and computer systems. • Perform service and repairs following manufacturers’ manuals. • Document all repair/service information in CARSTAR’s management system. • Inspects and tests all mechanical repairs to meet manufacturers' specifications.
