Mechanical Engineer - Full-time / Part-time

Join the Logoplaste Team! Logoplaste is currently seeking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to join our ILab team in Plainfield, IL (USA). The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for implementing and managing all mold and machine processes as well as managing the quality function for relevant machinery. Key Tasks & Activities... • Set up, repair and troubleshoot equipment, ancillary equipment and support equipment • Make required mold changes/process adjustments and complete color changes • Supervise the quality function in the plant, ensuring that processes, controls and employee task produce preforms to the specifications • Analyze quality and SPC information to ensure robustness of quality systems • Analyze downtime, scrap and cycle time data and prioritize improvement activities accordingly to positively affect the KPI's • Complete preventative maintenance requirements in coordination with the Maintenance Team • Supervise the quality function in the plant • Train and document training for employees to ensure they are able to do their job with success • Promote continuous improvement, through the use of improvement tools including SMED, 5S, Kaizen problem solving, etc. • Participate in the safety processes of the plant • Comply with all company safety policies and procedures as well as maintain good housekeeping and GMP practices/Global Food Safety practices • Other duties as assigned by manager Who we are looking for... Background and Experience • 3-5 years manufacturing experience in SBM and IBM (SIPA Machines); • Recognized certification or education in related field preferred • Strong knowledge of PET Technical Skills • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills • Good working knowledge of computer systems, including MS Office and SAP • Experience with lean manufacturing processes Interpersonal Skills • Previous supervisory experience required • Good communication and team building skills • Ability to effectively communicate technical system issues • Physical requirements and work environment • Must be able to work flexible hours to complete necessary changes and provide support for processing on all shifts • Ability to work in a fast pace, lean environment with heat above 90 degrees • Ability to sit, climb, stand, bend, crawl and walk on a varying basis throughout the assigned work schedule • Ability to carry and/or maneuver up to 50 pounds Logoplaste offers an excellent benefits package with genuine career development opportunities. Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer will focus on supporting and optimizing the manufacturing processes for our established line of electromechanical sensor systems (producing ~50,000 units annually). The ideal candidate will be self-driven, capable of working independently to enhance quality, reduce costs, and ensure the smooth operation of the manufacturing process. This position involves interfacing with various internal teams and external suppliers and requires up to 10% travel, both domestic and Mexico. Key Responsibilities: • Process Optimization & Support: • Monitor manufacturing activities for electromechanical sensor systems, providing engineering support to troubleshoot and resolve production issues promptly. • Maintain and troubleshoot electromechanical manufacturing fixtures and test equipment, utilizing both hands-on and remote methods. • Identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, yield, and throughput. • Quality Assurance & Improvement: • Develop, implement, and refine quality control procedures and documentation. • Analyze quality data (yields, failure rates, customer feedback) to identify trends, lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts for failures, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). • Develop and implement improvements to manufacturing test procedures and equipment for enhanced efficiency and defect detection. • Streamline quality processes to ensure consistent product reliability. • Cost Reduction: • Actively seek out and champion cost reduction opportunities through process improvements, material analysis, tooling optimization, or collaboration with suppliers. • Supplier & Vendor Interface: • Serve as a technical point of contact for component and service suppliers. • Collaborate with procurement and quality teams to manage supplier performance, address quality concerns, and qualify new vendors or alternative components, potentially including supplier technical interviews and site visits. • Failure Analysis & Root Cause Investigation: • Participate in or lead cross-functional teams to investigate product failures or manufacturing defects. • Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA) to determine root causes and implement robust solutions. • Documentation & Reporting: • Create and maintain essential manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flows, control plans, and engineering change orders (ECOs). • Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, quality, and cost. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field. • Five years of relevant experience, demonstrating increasing responsibility and project leadership. • Proven experience working in a medium-to-high volume manufacturing environment. • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., SMT, PCB assembly, mechanical assembly, automated testing, calibration). • Proficiency with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and quality tools (SPC, FMEA, Control Plans). • Demonstrated experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving techniques. • Experience interacting with and managing suppliers/vendors. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications; familiarity with common electrical analysis tools (e.g., multimeter, oscilloscope). • Experience analyzing data from various sources (e.g., manufacturing databases, quality logs). • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Highly self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10% (primarily domestic USA and Mexico).
