Production Engineer II

Position Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree, ideally in mechanical or industrial engineering or four to six years’ equivalent experience Experience/Skills/Abilities: Three to five years’ experience in manufacturing operations • Experience in bidding, designing, building, and integrating automated production equipment. • Experience in justifying, specifying and procurement of equipment for manufacturing improvements • Proficient with drafting skills with emphasis on 3D model manipulation • Demonstrated the ability to thoroughly interpret the intricacies of detailed manufacturing prints • Experience with nationally recognized testing laboratories such as UL (Underwriters Laboratories). • Experience in project management (dealing with customers, suppliers and internal departments) • Ability to recognize manufacturing process flow and create product routings • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to learn and adapt to new processes. • Experience with nationally recognized testing laboratories such as UL (Underwriters Laboratories). Background in sheet metal manufacturing, welding, paint systems and electrical and electronic component assembly is mandatory. • Ability to use fundamental lean tools and well versed in problem-solving techniques. • Ability to plan and organize work activities; uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans • Experience with and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Duties and Responsibilities • Improve existing process capabilities to: • Create routings for new products • Specify new equipment and/or processes • Evaluate for relativity, approve and track Change Requests as it pertains to manufacturing. • Support and assist the dynamic needs of manufacturing through the use of continuous improvements/kaizen methodology. • Responsible for routing, coordination, monitoring of issues and corrections of all samples and prototypes run in manufacturing. Liaison between Design Engineering and Sales concerning sample and prototype builds. • Identify equipment and/or process improvements and justify changes by conducting return on investment (ROI) analysis. Once approved, specify and procure the necessary equipment and work closely with Manufacturing to implement. • Develop production processes for new products. • Assist with all aspects of product transfers between plants including but not limited to checklists, communication, tooling, and stock inventories. • Update, and review Production Engineering standard work. • Create audits and monitor as necessary to ensure conformance to processes and standards (SuperUser). General • Thinks independently, shows initiative, anticipates and prevents problems. Resourcefulness in accomplishing objectives and completing tasks. • Demonstrate ability to lead and work well in a team environment. Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and employees at all levels of the organization. • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and bring to conclusion.
