Job Summary This position reports to the Maintenance & Reliability Manager and is responsible for implementing the requirements of the mechanical integrity program at the El Dorado facility. The position conducts and supervises non-destructive testing (NDT) and additional inspection methods which are used to ensure plant reliability in chemical process industries. NDT is a primary method in detecting flaws in welds, structures, and equipment. This position is responsible to adhere to all state, federal, code inspection and fitness for service rules and regulations. Responsibilities & Duties: • Conduct NDT inspection to include penetrant testing (PT), visual testing (VT), positive metal identification (PMI), and ultrasonic thickness (UT) measurements on related structures, components, and welds to ensure their integrity. • Perform piping hanger and structural support inspections per MI schedule. • Maintain inspection and test reports (electronic and hard copy formats, as applicable) for mechanical integrity of process piping, vessels, and tanks. • Supervise 3rd party inspectors during outages and other scheduled assignments. • Interpret NDT reports to assess equipment condition and provide corrective actions as required. • Enter design data, inspection criteria, and inspection frequencies into the LSB mechanical integrity equipment management software system (PCMS). • Build and maintain equipment and components database in PCMS. • Maintain proficiency with PCMS for inspection scheduling and status reporting. • Conduct measurements and analysis using the temporary flow meter as directed. • 5 years’ experience in a related role (preferred). • API 510, 570 and 653 (two certifications required) • Bachelor’s Degree required. • Knowledge of testing procedures and equipment used for testing. • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, etc. • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. • Highly organized, with a focus on process and time management discipline. • Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization. • The ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines are required. • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required. • Excellent computer skills and attention to detail a must. Work Environment & Physical Demands • Primary duties accomplished by walking/touring safe areas of chemical plant processes which includes ambient conditions of temperature and humidity. Additional requirements include gaining access to piping, vessels, and tanks both internally and externally using ladders, man-lifts, cranes, and other means as required. • Secondary duties accomplished within an office environment, to include air-conditioned setting with appropriate ergonomic computer, desk, chair, lighting, and hard copy file cabinets and drawers. • Willingness to work around dust, chemicals, high pressure, high temperature, loud noises, and running equipment. • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel toed boots, long sleeve shirt, face shield, and hearing protection).
