Mechanical Techs - HVAC Installers & Helpers

For the Mechanical Tech position - Craftsmen Contractors is needing workers who are competent in the areas of helping build prefabs, generators or AC’s. Duties may include hanging air conditioners, waveguides, fire suppression systems, and/or generators. At certain times you may be installing cable trays, grounding (wiring), generator exhaust systems, louvers, dampers, vent fans, ice shields, block out plates and polyphasers. All of this under limited supervision for candidates who take the initiative and possess the ability to complete and apply technical guidance given in work assignments. These are full time temp to permanent positions for the right candidates. Day shifts from Monday thru Friday and work every other Saturday. Pay is $15.40 - $21.45/hr. depending on experience. Job Duties: • Read and interpret Bill of Materials and prints to obtain the correct parts for each building. • Measure and cut cable trays with portable band saw according to prints and all threads with a chop saw according to prints. • Prepare cover plates and waveguides for installation and prepare vent fans and poly phasers for installation. • Interpret prints to determine appropriate location for halo grounding, cable tray, ground bars, etc. • Install halo ground (wire around top of ceiling). • Use crimpers and c-taps to connect wire. • Install cover plates, waveguides and ground bars according to print. • Drill holes in ceiling and installs mounting hardware for cable tray. Installs cable tray. • Use crimpers to install lugs to ground wires and connect ground wires to ground bar. • Install vent fans, poly phasers and ac grills. • Read blueprints to determine placement of cable trays and read blueprints to determine appropriate grounding (wiring). • Install generator pan and anchors to floor. • Operate a forklift to set generator in building and anchor to floor. Job Requirements: • Required to wear PPE (personal protective equipment), such a protective eyewear and steel-toed boots. • Exposed to seasonal temperatures throughout year. • Able to operate miscellaneous hand and power tools such as electric drill, portable band saw, chop saw, caulk gun, hammer drill, wrench, wire crimpers, wire strippers, hydraulic crimpers, pipe threaders. Also, able to operate a forklift. • Required to work for long periods of time in a standing position while installing hardware, doors, canopies, etc. • Must be able to ascend, descend and work from a ladder when mounting overhead waveguides, canopies, halo-grounding, etc. • Required to work on knees at floor level when grounding conduit connections. Must be able to complete overhead work when installing, cable trays, fire suppression systems, grounding, etc. • Job requires bending forward to climb ladders and picking up parts in boxes. • Must be able to exert force up to 150 pounds often when pushing or pulling tool cart. • Job requires lifting 50 pounds frequently when lifting cable trays, ladders, etc. • Exposed to such hazardous conditions as extreme noise levels and electrical, automatic and/or moving equipment. • Mechanical aptitude • Must do a face to face interview. • Will need to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen. Maintenance Industrial Mechanic

Description ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Conducts daily checks on all concrete producing equipment to ensure proper operation. • Makes repairs to all mechanical devices. This includes gearboxes, conveyor belts, motor removal and replacement, bearing change-outs, etc. • Performs routine lubrication duties as scheduled in the maintenance software. • Works w/production employees to ensure smooth carousel operation. • Monitors moving parts for proper wear pattern. Relates any anomalies to production foreman. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs other duties as required by Maintenance Supervisor. This may include helping the maintenance mechanics, bldg. and grounds crews, maintenance electricians, etc. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: • High School diploma or equivalent • Must have 3-5 years of mechanical experience in a production environment. • Basic electrical knowledge preferred. • Must be familiar w/items such as belts, bearings, pulleys, chains, sprockets, etc. • Must be able to certify on a forklift. • Must possess a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record. • Must be available for on-call 24/7. SKILLS: • Must be able to weld and use a torch. • Must be proficient w/a wide variety of hand tools. • Must be mentally focused and detailed. • Must understand the principles of "cause and affect". • Must be good w/metal working tools such as drills, lathes, mills, etc. • Must have a good understanding of and the ability to troubleshoot hydraulic systems. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Must follow all safety guidelines. Job requires wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, earplugs, etc. Must wear a hardhat, gloves and safety harness when needed. • Exposed to seasonal temperatures throughout the year. Must be able to operate miscellaneous hand and power tools. • Must be able to grasp objects with fingers such as tools, small parts, wire connectors, wires, etc. Job requires moderate repetitive motion of wrist. • Employee is required to stand for short periods of time and to stoop or crouch occasionally. Must be able to work in a variety of positions. Must be able to work at substantial heights when working with aerial equipment. Also requires bending at the waist and legs occasionally. Job occasionally requires climbing stepladder. Job requires considerable walking in going from place to place within the facility and on the premises. • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently. Job also requires exerting force up to 50 pounds occasionally. • Should have good eyesight and color perception. • Subject to noise, dirt, and heat. Exposed to such hazardous conditions such as automatic or remote operated equipment. • Because the equipment is critical to production, may include working weekends, evenings or holidays.
