Maintenance Mechanic

About the Role: Our business deals with semi-trucks, dry van trailers, roll-off trucks with sliding tarp systems, forklifts and one trash truck. The Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and performing PM services on similar equipment. This position will be full-time, Monday-Friday (5 days a week) with an average of 40+ hours per week with the ability to work overtime as permitted. Responsibilities: • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT Inspections and follow up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment. Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc. • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment. • Manage assigned tasks, making effective judgments prioritizing work related activities and time. • Use hand tools, precision instruments, welding equipment, lift and jacks. • Document according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used. • Accurately complete DOT forms and all other forms of documentation in a timely fashion. • Work with a high degree of independence and manage your own daily schedule. • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for the repairs to be performed. • Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers. • Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, to include OSHA, EPA, and DOT. Qualifications: • Minimum (1) year experience on heavy-duty diesel trucks (5+ years highly preferred) • Must maintain clean and safe work area • Must have own hand tools. Other tools can/will be provided • Must help with building and grounds maintenance Preferred Certifications: • ASE T2 (Diesel Engines) certification • ASE T3 (Drivetrain) certification • ASE T4 (Brakes) certification • ASE T5 (Suspension) certification • ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) Working Conditions & Other Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Overview The IS Mechanical Designer I will design mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles. Responsibilities • Works closely with project managers, engineers and contractors to create unique high-level concepts and designs for all assigned projects. • Works closely with the team to ensure the successful execution of goals of all assigned projects. • Conducts field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities. • Produces design documents including drawings, system flow diagrams and architecture, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment scheduling. • Delivers concepts and designs according to strict project deadlines. • Contributes to all areas of the creative process and department. • Performs work under direct supervision. • Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. • Assist with the development of technical reports or related documents. • Other duties as assigned or required.
