As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. • *Responsibilities** • Perform full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture) producing prototype and production drawing packages. • Engineering and Design of full ocean depth enclosures to house different instrumentation, such as: stand-alone positioning recorders, temperature sensors, acoustic release modems, & ADCP's (Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers). • Configuration management of designs, drawings, and test procedures using Vault software. • Formulate and manage activities and projects that involve operations, new technology, and application while monitoring execution plans, budgets, and operation performances. • Formulating plans and initiatives while coordinating with other agency departments to ensure designs, configurations, field testing, technology, and implementation are properly executed. • Procurement procedures and requirements for equipment and services such as writing specifications, preparing statements of work, and evaluating proposals. • Regularly interact with machinists, welders, & project managers to facilitate design and build of all NOAA/NDBC buoys, integrating the mechanics & electronics into one interchangeable package. • Create and deliver concept, preliminary, and critical design review presentations on Engineering design work. • *Qualifications** # Required: • BS in Mechanical, Ocean or Marine Engineering or related field. • 2 years experience in the design, planning, test, installation and operation of electromechanical systems in the marine environment. • Knowledge of Engineering concepts, principles, & techniques. • Experience with mechanically integrating new technologies into operational systems. • Experience with CAD 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD Inventor. • Experience creating Engineering drawing packages. • Experience with performing FEA analysis. • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation. • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce. # Desired: • Experience in the design, planning, test, installation and operation of electromechanical systems in the marine environment. • Experience with design/repair/overhaul of marine systems, including hulls, appendages, superstructures, marine ocean structures, mooring, piping, power and cable systems. • Experience with design, analysis and testing of mechanical & electrical operational oceanographic observing platforms / systems such as: full ocean moored buoys, coastal towers, structures of opportunity & wave gliders. • Project engineering experience. • Marine structural design experience. • Experience with dynamic marine systems and/or underwater mooring design. • Experience using OrcaFlex software and Algor/Fempro (FEA) software for FEA analysis a plus. • Experience with programming CNC mills / lathes using OneCNC software, 3D printing using Control Center & Insight software, Numeric Coding Programming for CNC machines, and Water Jet programming a plus. • *About Lynker** Lynker is a growing, employee owned, small business, specializing in professional, scientific and technical services. T&M, fixed cost, T&M not to exceed or other methods are typical • Review/communicate as a team to plant employees what problem we are aware of and what is proposed for a solution. This will occur as part of a team of maintenance and operation persons responsible for the improvement • Communicate any details developed through emails, whiteboards, meetings, etc. Improvement Execution • Assist in writing requisitions if no work order is needed and the technical drawings or specs need to be attached to the PO • Assist in managing timeline of implementation and commissioning on efforts which have this need • Utilize plant labor for assistance when appropriate, and communicate with manager of cost center • Actively participate in team meetings and discussions about progress.
