Melt Shop Mechanical Engineer

Company Description manufacturing company Job Description Steel mill in West Tennessee needs a Melt Shop Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. I am advertising in your area in order to find people who might be interested in relocation. Responsible for maintenance of mechanical equipment used in steel mills, especially with Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF), Ladle Metallurgy Furnace (LMF) and casting equipment. • Will develop and improve maintenance processes that affect production, safety, and product types. • Will work with process engineers on projects throughout the facility. • Generate work orders for maintenance employees. • Will work on installation and commissioning of retrofits or new machines. • Will apply corrective and preventive maintenance plans. • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly maintenance and trouble reports. • Estimate maintenance costs, evaluate maintenance choices, purchase spare parts, and follow up with suppliers. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering plus hands-on experience as a Melt Shop Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. • Must be computer literate. • Have at least three years’ experience in the implementation of maintenance programs, including preventive, corrective, and condition based, at a steel mill or other primary metals mill. • Should have experience, from a mechanical engineer’s perspective, maintenance and ensure safe operation of equipment. • Should have experience in troubleshooting for unplanned equipment problems. • Must have strong analytical skills and be able to work well under pressure. • Must have strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to climb and descend stairs to and from primary nip (6 floors) in order to troubleshoot problems and train associates. Ability to perform screen change and die clean functions as well as operate roll handling equipment (hoists, Crown Lifts and mobile equipment).
