Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing processes in the industrial plant by performing the following duties. Responsibilities: • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods. • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods. • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards. • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university; and one or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge & Skills: Language Skills: • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and the general public. Mathematical Skills: • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. • Ability to work harmoniously with other employees within his/her department and other departments with which they interface. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in manufacturing engineering, project management, and a proven track record of leading successful engineering projects in the manufacturing sector. Responsibilities • Spearhead initiatives to incorporate cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and methodologies to improve efficiency, quality, and scalability. • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure successful implementation. • Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering group to identify and implement new technologies and materials that can enhance transformer performance and longevity. • Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements to propose innovative solutions for future product lines. • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with standards and regulations specific to electrical distribution transformers. • Lead efforts to make manufacturing processes more sustainable and environmentally friendly, including waste reduction and energy efficiency improvements. • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards, focusing on minimizing the environmental impact of transformer manufacturing. • Work closely with the supply chain team to identify and mitigate risks associated with raw materials and component supplies. • Implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations and reduce costs without compromising quality. • Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization to align manufacturing projects with overall business goals. • Identify potential project risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. • Regularly review and update risk management strategies in response to both internal and external changes affecting manufacturing. • Mentor team members and identify opportunities for professional development to build a high-performing project team. • Oversee the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies, such as IoT, AI, and robotics, into manufacturing processes to enhance productivity and product quality. • Ensure the smooth implementation of these technologies while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations. • Perform cost analysis on manufacturing processes to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency gains.
