Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary This role will support Custom Engineered Product Development in both Liquid Cooling and Air Cooled product families for Hyperscale customers. Our focus is to develop optimized solutions using Industry Standards and best practices as well as following design support from cradle-to-grave. There is an immediate need and great opportunity to support the Market Shift as all the big fish are racing to with the AI race. The Mechanical Engineer will perform mechanical engineering work covering product engineering and product development. This role will apply design engineering principles and practices, managing assigned portions of product development projects. This person will manage multiple project activities in parallel and may lead projects through completion. Position Responsibilities: • Works with Sales, Marketing, and R&D to develop product requirements based on customer needs. • Analyzes systems using a variety of engineering tools including, but not limited to, FEA, analytical formulas, benchmark designs, etc. • Run through sizing and optimization exercises for pumps, valves, and flow control devices • Familiar with piping layouts, design, and material selection, including, but not limited to, PVC, Stainless Steel, Copper, HDPE, etc. • Uses DFMEA, PFMEA, and DFMA tools to improve the quality and reliability of designs. • Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) • Assures that full and accurate documentation is produced for the designs that are moving into commercialization. • Works with operations to design solutions that are integrated into the current manufacturing capabilities. • Develops advanced designs in conjunction with operations to produce high quality designs that are value based. • Works with sales and service to improve current designs and incorporates future needs into the existing platform. • Works as an example and mentor to more junior mechanical engineers. • Other duties as assigned by the manager. Position Qualifications: Requirements: • BSME from an accredited university, or applicable engineering work experience. • 3-5 years of engineering work experience, HVAC preferred. • CFD, computational fluid dynamics experience preferred. • Self-starter and must be able to work cross-functionally. • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary: The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the independent design, development, and optimization of dry type transformers, as well as transferring documentation to build dry/oil transformers or related components in different locations. As a fully competent engineer, the role involves applying well-established expertise to complete tasks and projects with minimal supervision. This role includes collaboration with cross-functional teams and occasional mentoring of less experienced engineers. The Senior Mechanical Engineer contributes to product performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction while ensuring compliance with industry standards. One of the main activities is to provide support to the manufacturing area directly on site, whether for the construction of new designs, prototypes, proposing improvements and solving engineering problems. Responsibilities • Independently design and develop mechanical systems and components for distribution dry type transformers, PDUs, Reactors and Special transformers, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., UL, CSA, IEEE, NEMA) and customer specifications. • Conduct engineering analyses to optimize product performance, cost, and efficiency. • Perform detailed failure analysis on design-related issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure successful integration of designs into production. • Participate in design reviews to provide technical input and ensure that designs meet project and customer requirements. • Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports. • Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure product designs remain competitive and compliant. • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, promoting innovation and efficiency in the design process. • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance as needed, though leadership is not a primary focus of this role. • Analyze mechanical systems using both classical engineering methods and computer-aided tools (FEA, thermal/structural analysis). Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. • More than 5 years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, with a focus on transformer or related product design. • Proficiency with design and analysis tools, including electrical and thermal analysis software (e.g., OPS Transformer Design Software, Solid Works). • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., UL, CSA, IEEE, NEMA) and regulatory requirements for transformers or components. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently. • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working in cross-functional teams. • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. • Experience conducting failure analysis and implementing corrective actions for design-related issues. Responsibilities What You’ll Do • Lead advanced manufacturing projects from concept through implementation, including engineering design, validation, and production release. • Create detailed 3D and 2D models, tooling designs, jigs, fixtures, and complete equipment using Inventor or comparable CAD platforms. • Develop PFMEAs, control plans, process flow diagrams, and work instructions that support stable, repeatable operations. • Conduct time studies, capacity modeling, and simulation analysis to optimize bottlenecks and future-state production layouts. • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to troubleshoot process variation and drive root-cause problem solving. • Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and automation solutions to reduce waste, improve first-pass yield, and enhance throughput. • Support equipment specification, vendor evaluation, CAPEX justification, and installation of new automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing systems. • Integrate Industry 4.0 solutions such as machine data collection, MES enhancements, and IoT-enabled predictive maintenance. • Partner with supply chain to mitigate material risk, qualify alternate components, and evaluate manufacturability of sourced parts. • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards throughout all manufacturing processes. • Provide coaching and technical mentorship to engineering and production team members. Qualifications What You’ll Bring • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline. • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with strong exposure to process design, automation, or equipment validation. • Proficiency in Inventor or similar CAD tools, including design for manufacturability (DFM) and GD&T. • Experience creating process documentation (PFMEA, control plans, SOPs, work instructions, CAD layouts). • Strong understanding of automated assembly, robotics, CNC machining, welding processes, or coil winding (bonus for transformer industry experience). • Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, statistical process control, and continuous improvement methodologies. • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting production issues, performing root-cause analysis, and driving corrective actions. • Ability to manage multiple engineering projects with strong organization and prioritization. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical teams. • Curiosity, initiative, and a drive to innovate and improve manufacturing systems.
