Position Description Quality Engineer is responsible for the quality management system within our Lawrenceburg, TN manufacturing plant. The successful candidate will report to the Quality Manager. Key Responsibilities • Responsible for all quality management system for assigned Business Unit within the Lawrenceburg, TN facility • Ensure that quality system requirements are established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with internal and customer quality requirements • Support the customer to ensure on-going quality excellence and act as a pivotal point between Modine and the customer • Establish, monitor, analyze, and report on the major quality indicators of the plant. Develop improvement targets and plans to address/correct deficiencies. • Report on the performance of the quality system to plant management for review • Lead continuous improvement efforts as they relate to internal and external quality needs. • Create and implement core quality tools: Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Product Part Approval Process (PPAP) • Ensure linkage between Design FMEA, Process FMEA, Process Flow and Control Plan • Create and maintain quality documentation including receiving inspection, control plans, and shop floor documents • Initiate and participate in quality planning for the products and processes of the plant. • Actively participate in and lead continuous improvement efforts utilizing lean, CI, and quality tools • Utilize 8D problem solving process to coordinate corrective and preventive action and problem resolution of customer complaints, field failures, product returns and internal findings to insure prompt and effective responses. • Facilitate and assist the effective use of a formal Supplier Quality Management Process. This includes reviewing and approving supplier PPAP’s, conducting supplier audits, and tracking program effectiveness. • Continuous improvement and administration of quality management system • Develop inspection methods to analyze product quality • Support production personnel on failure analysis, reject disposition and day to day quality issues. • Responsible for customer required initial sample requirements. Examples include PPAP package, Initial Sample Inspection Report (ISIR), Part Submission Warrant (PSW), etc. • Oversee the internal audit system. This includes documenting the system, auditing of the process and quality systems, identification and follow-up to areas identified for improvement, and implementation and follow-up of corrective action. • Coordinate and direct the preparation for customer, third-party, and internal quality system audits. Participate in the audits, and represent the plant as necessary. • Conduct statistical process capability studies on new or re-worked tooling, manufacturing equipment, and new or changed processes. Complete required documentation. • Audit the plant quality systems, processes, and products. Initiate corrective action when required.
