Job Title: Part-Time Mechanical Engineer (Chickamauga Dam) • **Work Location: Chattanooga, TN (Chickamauga Lock and Dam)*** Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview REQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen Duties/Responsibilities: • Provides professional mechanical engineering and construction management support by performing tasks such as: serves as a general engineer providing professional and technical leadership; guidance, and expertise in managing contractor executed construction projects • Serving as the organizational subject matter expert regarding national standards and practices for mechanical engineering construction for features of large civil works construction projects such multi-purpose dams, locks and river navigation structures • Participating in design reviews and providing comments on contractor submitted mechanical engineering designs and plans • Respond to RFI requests • Oversee construction, contract administration, and quality assurance activities in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations • Analyze design and construction issues with respect to contract requirements. • Deliver recommendations to government personnel regarding compliance with contract provisions and recommend corrective actions as required to ensure high quality performance on contractor executed mechanical engineering projects or project tasks • Assisting in interpreting and enforcing contractual provisions regarding contractor mechanical engineering requirements and deliverables • Candidate should be prepared to review and interpret plans and specifications, submittals, reports, schedules, modifications, cost estimates, approve pay applications, change orders and claims. • Provide field surveillance and prepare daily detailed reports covering all pertinent factors affecting cost and engineering considerations. • Utilizes USACE Resident Management System (RMS) Education/Experience: • Current Professional Engineer license • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as mechanical engineer on large complex multimillion dollar federal construction projects • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering • Experience with Dam and Lock projects including Lock operating machinery and utilities and multi-purpose dams and river navigation structures. • Demonstrate experience with mechanical features such as lock operating machinery and utilities, hydraulic fluid power systems, hydraulic controls, and valves • Experience with raw water pumps systems including plumbing, control valves, gate sprinklers, hose, and tubing • Knowledge of machine drive and power transmission for gears, drive shafts, couplings rods as well as lubrication systems for machine components • Experience in HVAC for small buildings and fire protection systems.
