Job Description • Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Safety Management Program. Advise management of any deviations from this program. • Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts or bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts. • Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs. • Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools. • Lay out mounting holes, using measuring instruments, and drill holes with power drill. • Signal crane operator to lower basic assembly units to bedplate, and align unit to centerline. • Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts. • Level bedplate and establish centerline, using straightedge, levels, and transit. • Dismantle machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools. • Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly unit, using hand tools and power tools. • Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks. Qualifications • Associates degree in a technical field or training in a vocational school preferred. • Three to five years of related on-the-job experience required. • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. • Skills required include installation, equipment maintenance, operation monitoring, critical thinking, repairing, troubleshooting, active learning, active listening, coordination, and monitoring. • Abilities required include arm-hand steadiness, finger dexterity, control precision, manual dexterity, multi-limb coordination, problem sensitivity, information ordering, oral comprehension, trunk strength, and visualization. • Work activities include repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment; handling and moving objects; getting information; inspecting equipment, structures, or material; making decisions and solving problems; controlling machines and processes; communicating with supervisors and peers; identifying objects, actions, and events; and organizing, planning, and prioritizing work. • Physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body include climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, standing, stooping, and handling tools and materials. • Must wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.

Sr Quality Engineer Technologist / CWI

Job Description What’s it like to work on a team driven to make a big impact? Empowering. BAE Systems is hiring for a Senior Quality Engineering Tech / Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) to support at its site in Anniston Alabama. At BAE Systems, we value our workforce, and in this role as a Senior Quality Engineering Tech / CWI, you will work on a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off. (See below.) As a Quality Engineering Technologist and CWI, you will inspect parts for conformance and compliance to the specified weld codes, interface with the customer and the Defense Contracts Management Agency (DCMA) for audits, program inquiries and product acceptance. You will use your quality systems experience and attention to detail to review for hardware and documentation records as part of the product acceptance process. This is a fast-paced and collaborative program team environment. As a Quality Engineer Technologist and CWI, you will: • Develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. • Create, implement, and document methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. • Design and assess inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment, and conduct quality assurance tests. • Use lean and six-sigma quality methodologies and utilize quality tools to help drive continuous improvement. • Assist in the creation of inspection plans. • Use weld expertise to assist other functions as the onsite subject matter expert. Note about Schedule: Typical starting time is 5:00 AM on a 9/80 schedule which allows employees to work a standard 80 hours over a period of 9 days, rather than the traditional 10-day, 2-week period. Employees work 9 hours per day for 8 days (M-Th), and then work 8 hours on the 9th day ("On-Friday"), and every other Friday, the employee gets the day off ("Off-Friday").Required Education, Experience, & Skills • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or technical discipline with at least four years of related experience, or the overall equivalent • Current AWS / CWI certification • Solid understanding of Quality Assurance / Quality Control fundamentals and concepts • Experience operating within ISO 9001 standards • Background in problem solving techniques and analysis (A3, DMAIC, etc.) • Experience using standard and industry related software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database applications such as Oracle or TipQA • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills • Able to provide guidance and extend mentoring to others Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills • Combat vehicle inspection experience • Experience creating and documenting inspection criteria • Oracle and TipQA computer applications experience • Experience working in a quality program in support of government contracts, preferably DoD • Formal training in root cause analysis • Metrology experience (Faro Arm, CMM, etc.) • Paint inspection experience Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $77814 - $132283 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
