This Mechanical Engineer will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for maintaining and sustaining the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. Open to [internal candidates only] Job Summary An exciting career opportunity exists for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead system engineering and configuration management efforts in our High Temperature Laboratory test facilities. This position is a mix of office work and time spent in the field working with our test operations engineers and skilled craft workforce. Job Duties This position provides the following engineering services: • Develop, document, and complete maintenance procedures, mechanical systems operating procedures, sequence of operations, advanced troubleshooting, system optimization, and energy conservation • Update and maintain system documentation for systems of responsibility • Analyze spare parts inventories, determine and track needs, and provide organization of spares • Determine and develop processes for taking parts out of service that are past their life or out of tolerance in the Module Refurbishment Shop and on other high use rebuildable equipment • Determine accuracy of drawings, field revisions, NORs, and sketches and work with Branch designer/drafter to correct • Evaluate spare parts storage, heater module refurbishment processes, and factors contributing to contamination of heater components • Evaluate equipment in the field for improvement, determine deficiencies, improve reliability for increase testing throughput • Work with reliability engineers to develop maintenance schedules based on condition and health of equipment and ensure supply of materials required to maintain equipment is available when needed to prevent equipment failures • Perform root cause failure analyses and other equipment performance analyses when systems or processes fail and recommend remedial actions • Conduct and write up system safety hazard analyses and write clear work instructions • Responsible for safe operations and maintenance of associated support infrastructure and test facilities • Respond when systems malfunction during a test as needed, troubleshooting and directive corrective maintenance activities ensuring a timely return to service • Develop estimates for small improvement projects and test projects • Work with multiple organizations such as design engineering, planners, schedulers, craft supervisors, fabrication shops, DoD client, and other contractors • Assist skilled craft with troubleshooting and oversee their work; provide leadership and guidance • Communicate clearly and utilize various methods of communication • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy. • Perform other related duties as required. Job Summary Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization, and an important national resource. AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight test. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers. J Ob Duties • Responsible for coordination of engineering deliverables on a project or group of projects for BNH. Coordinates with the Digital Enterprise Project Managers, Group Managers and Functional Managers to secure the resources needed to complete design activities. • Communicates information that assists with effective priority determination by Digital Enterprise Branch Management. • Coordinates with the technical team to guide and direct 0-Works with Project Controls to develop work breakdown structures; Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules; and resource, cost and budget plans. • Supports Project Control / Digital Enterprise Project Manager in performing critical path analysis and development of timelines for completion of tasks, measuring the deliverable work packages of the project against the project plan. • Communicates schedule conflicts, resource constraints, and time constraints to the project team, section supervisors, and group managers. • Assist with PM responsibilities as need in the preparation of progress reports, standardized reporting procedures and the monitoring of overall project performance. • Tracks project charging and ensures appropriate charge number assignment. • Organizes and communicates project information (e.g., scope of work, requirements documentation, drawings, and estimates) to project team members. • Serves as a technical liaison between the project team, contractor, and government engineering staff. • Support process improvement efforts and development and documentation of new processes. • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy. • Perform other related duties as required. Preferred Qualifications • Technical knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers. • Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or another relevant engineering field from an accredited university program. • Demonstrated experience in a data analytics role applied to technical data in probability analyses and statistical analytics to gain insights using large data sources. • Knowledge of data mining, analysis and collection techniques applied to operations and analysis, especially safety or operations process improvement. • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to analyze data and draw insights from large data sets. • Experience working with and creating data architectures. • Experience performing root cause analysis. • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques and their real-world advantages/drawbacks. • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications. • Coding knowledge and experience with multiple languages • Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, etc. • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, including the preparation of technical reports is required. Project Engineer Internship - Manchester, TN

Purpose This position will be responsible for assisting as needed in the planning, execution and overall Project Engineering for capital projects, as well as the day-to-day operations, mechanical and process performance of the RMA manufacturing operations.
