Entry Level Mechanical Engineer (in KY)

We are looking to fill a full time ENTRY LEVEL Mechanical Engineer position with a manufacturer located in the area of Franklin/Bowling Green, KY. Salary Range: $70,000 per year. No relocation assistance for entry level candidates. Must Haves: • · BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required to apply. Will not accept Mech. Engr. Technology degree • · Must be able to commute or relocate at your own expense. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Evaluate and manage capital and kaizen projects in a time-critical environment. · Provide analysis, evaluation and review of problems regarding automation, advanced methods and equipment, material handling, layout and material flow. · Provide alternative solutions to anticipated or actual technical and/or business related manufacturing problems. · Develop safeguards and improve team member safety through process improvements. · Provide training to production and maintenance team members. · Provide trouble shooting assistance to production and maintenance team members. · Develop new equipment specifications, tooling and other associated requirements. · Design new equipment or redesign existing equipment, and coordinate its fabrication, assembly, installation, and startup as needed. · Provide daily leadership to hourly maintenance personnel · Maintain all mechanical functions of plant processes · Actively and aggressively support 6S policies and procedures · Support the Production Dept. to assure processes, fixtures, inspection gauges, and tooling are designed, manufactured and delivered on time and within budget to meet production demands. · Prepare equipment and/or tooling designs as required to meet production needs. · Collect data from production documents daily or as needed. · Compare collected data to the standards and analyze for improvements. · Compare the collected data to production reports and analyze discrepancies. · Organize and report data weekly/monthly/yearly. · Measure OEE (Operating Equipment Efficiency) as required. · Identify and quantify opportunities for improvements. · Recommend and implement improvements. · Respond to emergency failures as needed. · Actively support 6S policies and practices. · Support new equipment installations as required and develop spare parts lists. · Coordinate forklift and company vehicle maintenance. · Support the Maintenance Dept. and Supervisor to assure the maintenance systems are being followed properly. · Develop new and/or improve maintenance systems. · Assist with budget preparations for production and maintenance by identifying equipment and tooling needs and developing cost estimates. · Collect maintenance related data from the documents daily. · 3D modeling experience (Solidworks) Preferred · Design tooling and verify line startup for new part numbers and capabilities · Communicate with sales and product design team · Develop new products from initial quoting through production lifespan Education and Work Experience Requirements: · B.S. Senior Mechanic

Who we are: Transportation is so basic that many of us overlook its overwhelming importance in our daily lives. The Tennessee Department of Transportation provides citizens of Tennessee and travelers with one of the best transportation systems in the country. TDOT is a multimodal agency with responsibilities in building and maintaining roads, aviation, public transit, waterways, railroads, cycling and walking. Our involvement ranges from airport improvements to funding transit buses to planning for river ports. The Department of Transportation has approximately 3,500 employees with four statewide region facilities in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville, and Jackson. Job Overview TDOT Mechanic Senior will be required to supervise a crew of mechanics in the repair of vehicles and equipment from light duty gasoline vehicles up to heavy duty diesel trucks and construction machinery. This person will responsible for ensuring that TDOT and other state agency vehicles and equipment are properly serviced and repaired to allow the State of Tennessee and the TDOT to provide required services on a daily basis. Essential Job Responsibilities • Schedule and assign repairs • Coordinate and monitor external vendor repairs • Develop and maintain supplier and vendor relationships • Supervise mechanics in proper diagnostic, and repair procedures • Coordinate supplier and vendor purchases with Purchasing Officer • Provide professional and timely service to internal and external customers • Review and finalize repair work orders • Perform Time and Labor reviews and approvals for garage staff. Qualifications • Highschool or Equivalent • 4 years full-time repair and/or maintenance of engines or related mechanical components, including but not limited to, transmissions, ignitions, and brakes. Substitution of Education for Experience: Coursework at an accredited technical or trades school in automotive technology, auto mechanics, or diesel mechanics may be substituted for the required experience on a month-for-month basis up to 24 months Necessary Special Qualifications: • Valid Class D Driver’s License • Within 11 months, possess and maintain at their own expense, Class A CDL with an N endorsement (57 restriction is allowable). Permit must be obtained within 5 months. • Within 3 months, possess and maintain at their own expense passing scores on all tests (T2 through T8) of the Automotive Service Excellence Certification in the medium to Heavy Truck Test Series. Ideal Candidate An ideal candidate will have experience with light duty to heavy duty gas and diesel vehicle and equipment. They would also have experience with multiple diagnostic tools and software. They must be able to coach and guide garage staff to make thorough repair diagnosis and part orders to allow repairs to be completed efficiently. The candidate must be a good time manager in order to assess multiple equipment and prioritize repairs in high stress environments. The candidate must have a background of using computers with such programs as email, MS Word applications, and experience with some type of vehicle fleet software would be helpful but not necessary.

PRODUCT ENGINEER-COOKEVILLE

MISSION Ensure optimum use of standardized solutions in all product development processes for all business unit clients. GENERAL FUNCTIONS Along with the Product Engineering Master, ensure the product's technical feasibility during the bid and development stages, in accordance with Ficosa Development System (FDS) methodology. Review designs under the supervision of the Master in Design, and effectively manage product modifications at all stages. Ensure that prototypes are developed and delivered per the plans defined with the client. Participate in product and process FMEA’s. With the Quality Design Engineer, analyze the results of the product technical test reports, and find the necessary technical countermeasure solutions. Propose Technical Lessons Learned in the industrialization phase, working with manufacturing teams. Support the business unit's competitiveness, improving costs, quality and product performance, adopting new technical solutions from analyzing the competition, and benchmarking, providing technical support to assembly plants (8D analysis, SOL activity, permanent improvement workshops, etc.). Cooperate with Purchasing dept. and suppliers to ensure optimization of components in terms of cost, quality and manufacturability. Ensure CAD (3D & 2D) design development. Address client engineering for effective product development. Participate in patent generation, according to Engineering Master and Intellectual Property area guidelines and recommendations. Observe Ficosa’s Code of Ethics to avoid fraudulent practices. Comply with Information Security Management System (ISMS) applicable to the job, along with the training related thereto. Provide the team with the necessary means to comply with OHSE rules, ensuring they are properly used. Actively cooperate in maintaining, promoting and improving the OHSE and Quality department.
