Mechanical Engineer

In the role of Mechanical Engineer, we'll count on you to: • Assume the mechanical lead and be the Mechanical and Plumbing Designer of Record (DOR) on small to mid-sized Projects through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project. • Establish client relations, and participate in the marketing, design and production meetings with regard to mechanical systems. • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance. • Coordinate workload to complete the documents on schedule. • Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines. • Review mechanical and plumbing documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines. • Write and edit mechanical and plumbing specifications and select mechanical and plumbing equipment, systems, and devices. • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents. • Provide construction contract administration as needed. • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators, or Mechanical CAD/BIM Technicians as needed. • Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed. • Perform other duties as needed. Preferred Qualifications • Master's degree in mechanical engineering • California Mechanical Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 12 months • A minimum of 4 years' experience in mechanical and plumbing system design for federal, commercial, and/or institutional facilities • Healthcare, Science and Technology and/or Civic facilities experience • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, Trane Trace3D, or similar software • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm • Water/Wastewater, Technology, Federal facilities experience is a plus • Project Management experience is a plus • This role is intended to physically located in Folsom, CA or Walnut Creek, CA • Preference given to local candidates. • LI-MO1 Qualifications Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering • Previous experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license • Experience in commercial or institutional facilities • Computer experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, manufacturer selection software • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe HDR is our company. HDR Engineering is currently seeking a Mechanical/Senior Mechanical Engineer to join one of the largest, fastest growing, and comprehensive TMT (Tech, Media and Telecom) practices in the industry Opportunities are available in these preferred locations: US: Atlanta, Austin, Bellevue, Boise, Charlotte, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Newark, New York, Omaha, Orlando, Pennington, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, Raleigh, Sacramento/Folsom, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, Walnut Creek. This individual should also have a desire to mentor and train younger mechanical engineers. The Data Center Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing projects from start to finish. This will include coordinating and working closely with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing members, and all other team members. They will be responsible for developing feasibility reports, construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and performing RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigation and overall construction administration. Passion, self-motivation, and strong leadership skills are a must to deliver technically excellent design solutions for our clients.
