Production Mechanic/Technician

Appointment Type: Full-Time. Non-Exempt Salary: TBDBased on Experience SUMMARY: This position is located at Acela Truck Company production facilities in Bozeman, MT.  ATC’s primary business is the manufacturing of new heavy-duty trucks and refurbishment (“resetting”) of military wheeled vehicles. Acela is a very fast-paced and forward-leaning, process-driven company that embraces clear communication and lean manufacturing principals, including the ability for all employeesto contribute to his/her own successes and work environment.The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, disassembly, reassembly and/or overhaul of special purpose vehicles and equipment. DUTIES INCLUDE: • Performs maintenance and repairs and modifications to heavy-duty mobile equipment, and automotive vehicles to Acela Truck Company standards.  Facilitates repairs to assemblies, components, installs content as outlined on the Production Documentation. • Determines what adjustments or repairs may be necessary to complete work, and whether any additional repairs other than those specified or indicated on the build order are necessary. • Removes and disassembles major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems in accordance with the proper specifications and procedures.  Reassembles and re-installs assemblies and components in vehicles and equipment as necessary.  Makes adjustments and repairs to electrical, suspension, air and hydraulic systems. • Removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems found on heavy duty vehicles.  Provides technical guidance and specialized team leadership to new employees within the team.  Assists new technicians in performing work that is assigned. • Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the Acela Truck Company Incoming Vehicle Inspection Sheet, and the Acela Truck Company Complete Build Checklist, and other documentation as required. • Assists in the maintenance of production reports and records and makes recommendations to the manager. Plans, organizes, and performs technical analyses as required or assigned.  Makes recommendations to the supervisor as to adjustments necessary to effectively, efficiently and economically accomplish the work and maximize production, safety and precision. • Dismantles and reassembles heavy equipment, parts and components, using hoists, lifts, winches, jacks, torches and hand tools. • Overhauls and tests machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency. • Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using various measuring equipment as required. • Operates and inspects machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects. • Immerses parts in tanks of solvent or sprays parts with grease solvent to clean parts. • Documents / corrects installation procedures using Production Software and tablets as required • Performs ALL duties to minimum standards as established by the Company, various technical manuals, manufacturer guidelines, etc. • Performs other duties as assigned. Travel: Limited /no travel Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Work involves the repair, adjustment and maintenance of self-propelled transportation and other mobile equipment (except aircraft). Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work. Basic knowledge and use of mechanics and other hand, battery / air operated tools and equipment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Frequently lifts up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, push, pull and stand for 5 or more hours a day • Must display excellent time management skills and communicate effectively' 'Benefit Conditions: • Waiting period may apply.
