HVAC Mechanical Engineer or Designer

This position integrates the process of document production with a more detailed understanding of systems and systems components. This position can expect exposure to HVAC and Plumbing design along with calculations, specifications, and an expanded understating of codes with a continuum advanced practice of three-dimensional Revit system design and production of ductwork and piping systems. This role will have the ability to take small to medium sized projects from conception to final design with little input from a senior engineer. Qualifications* you will bring to the table: • A Bachelor’s degree or higher education in Mechanical Engineering or related field • Minimum 3 year of experience in consulting HVAC engineering, however 5+ years is preferred working on projects within the United States • Intermediate knowledge of Autodesk MEP Revit, Auto CADD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Outlook • Ability to design an HVAC or plumbing system for a small to medium size project under minimal guidance from professional engineer from start to finish • Excellent working knowledge of HVAC systems, such as VAV systems, VRF systems, and Package rooftop systems • Working knowledge of hydronic pipe sizing, pump selection, duct sizing and fan selection • Working knowledge of hydronic heating system design and chilled water-cooling system design • Working knowledge of digital temperature control systems • Proficient using a heating and cooling load software such as Trane Trace • Excellent working knowledge of plumbing systems, such as domestic hot & cold-water systems, natural gas, and waste and vent systems • Working knowledge of pipe sizing and layout of plumbing systems • Ability to collaborate and efficiently work on a team to produce high quality construction documents for projects • Basic knowledge of Plumbing and Mechanical Building Codes • High level of Quality control and ability to correct design issues • Client direct communication • Did you know that some people hold back on applying to jobs if they don’t meet 100% of the listed requirements? As a Team Member at Cushing Terrell, you will*… • Consult with the client to determine functional requirements of new or renovated systems and/or projects and prepares information regarding design, specifications, estimated costs, and construction time • Collaborate with other disciplines to produce preliminary concepts and drawings such as developing electrical coordination lists for mechanical equipment • Review shop drawings for mechanical equipment during the construction administration process • Perform necessary research for design of complete systems • Conduct site surveys for as-building existing HVAC and plumbing systems for input into drawings • Conduct site inspections and prepares field reports for verification that installations meet design document requirements • Integrate engineering elements into design for client review and approval • Prepare scale drawings and contract documents for contractors • Complete cost estimates • Select equipment and prepare specifications • Provide basic research to codes and/or jurisdictional requirements • Perform engineering studies and prepare reports • Complete all necessary engineering functions to produce quality construction documents • Site travel and team meetings • The majority of the time, a person in this role will be sitting in an office with limited physical requirements. This may require individuals to bend, stretch, twist, and reach. Your pay The salary for this position is based on the location/s posted. If you are a candidate living outside of (this region/these regions), we still encourage you to apply as salary ranges may differ across states/cities/job markets. • Expected Range*: $65,000 to $90,000 depending on experience • The position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus • The actual salary offered for the role will be determined based on various factors including but not limited to; years of experience, certifications, location, level of job-related knowledge, and other job-related factors (as permitted by law).
