Project Manager - Mechanical Engineering - Arlington, VA

We are seeking a Project Manager in our DC office located in Arlington, VA office to manage select projects while developing and growing a group that is capable of executing large scale projects on a regional and national basis. This person will also provide technical expertise, serve as a resource to the staff, and support the sales efforts by establishing and maintaining client relationships. The position is viewed as a dynamic and entrepreneurial position that helps drive change, internally and externally, through the firm. The Project Manager is responsible for not only their projects but helping those around them. The candidate should view this as a high growth position with the opportunity for advancement. Primary responsibilities will include: Manage Projects • The emphasis may be in relation to Real Estate, Highrise, Tenant Improvement, Mission Critical, Life Sciences and/or Building Infrastructure, dependent upon the candidate’s skill set. • Project management functions including scope responsibilities, client management, scheduling, and financials. • Vet company processes and provide input. • Develop and support assistant project managers eventually capable of performing independently on similar project types. Mentor Staff • Be a technical resource for the staff. • Utilize quality control reviews to reinforce technical lessons and company processes. • Complete internal peer reviews and provide input in multi-discipline page turns, across all offices, to assist in the development of a comprehensive design. • Perform page turns prior to all major project deliverables. • Provide input utilizing sound engineering principles. • Provide input on individual staff member performance, advancement, and potential. Enterprise Management • Review workforce projections and determine how they relate to staffing. • Identify times and strategies to manipulate design schedules to work with staffing. • Drive ownership, accountability and culture through the company. • Interact with partners and executives on a regular basis to further the growth and quality agenda of the firm. • Marketing / Business Development Support • Identify potential business opportunities. • Work with the leadership team to develop fees on complex projects. • Develop and maintain client relationships. • Grow the volume and footprint of the office market sectors. The requirements for this position include: • At least eight years’ experience in engineering consulting or adjacent field (construction, owner’s representative, etc.) • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other relevant field • PE license preferred • Strong technical writing skills • Knowledge of building codes • Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills • Knowledge of Sustainable certification programs As a multi-discipline engineering firm, Bala is a leader in innovative designs for building systems in High Rise, Mission Critical, Multi-Unit Housing, Commercial Office, Higher Education, Transportation, Adaptive Reuse and Life Science facilities. Maintenance Engineer

Job Details Baltimore, MD Full Time $20.00 - $22.00 Hourly RegularDescription Position Summary The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural components. This role performs minor repairs, basic carpentry, painting, and furniture assembly, while also maintaining interior and exterior spaces. The position supports housekeeping and supervises contracted staff in the absence of the Maintenance Engineer Supervisor and must be able to work flexible hours and travel between facilities as needed. Essential Functions • Inspects buildings to determine functional HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems to detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations to the President and CEO, and records maintenance in accordance with schedules and established check sheet. • Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliance, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools. • Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses, changing air condition unit filters in each office, filters on roof, remove any debris from heating and air units, etc.) • Performs minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, roller to apply paint, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.) • Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.), assembles and repair office furniture to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand truck. • Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe comfortable working environment using painting equipment and related tools. • Inspects, tests, and cleans fire equipment, alarms, switches, and sensors. • Cleans parking lots, cuts grass, sweeps outside sidewalks, removes leaves and other outside job-related tasks as assigned. • In the absence of housekeeping staff, the position will clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other job-related tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. • In absence of the Maintenance Engineer Supervisor, responsible for supervising the contracted housekeeping staff. • In the absence of the Maintenance Engineer Supervisor, responsible for the daily cleaning of the QCare Clinic. • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed and drive to various facilities to deliver and or pick-up mail, packages, equipment and other related company items as directed. Qualifications Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required • Minimum 3 years’ experience in facility maintenance, electrical or mechanical work • Familiarity with basic hand and power tools preferred • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, painting, and carpentry. • Knowledge of electrical and building codes as well as Joint Commission is a plus. • Ability and willingness to travel to multiple organization sites as needed • Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow verbal and written instructions • Ability to work with minimal supervision. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
