DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Troubleshoots and repairs lift trucks, pallet jacks and cat fork trucks: hydraulics; motor and drive unit replacement; tire and wheel replacement load position; basic programming for access 1 modules on rolling stock; change tanks, forks, and peddles; repair/replace cylinders. • Troubleshoots and repairs conveyor system: repair electrical and mechanical components; may troubleshoot Graphical Monitoring System (GMS); troubleshoots and repairs sortview controller, programmable logic controllers or RTS (pick-to-light system); fabricates machine parts unavailable for purchase. • Performs preventative maintenance. • Operates equipment battery change equipment. • Performs routine maintenance on building such as minor plumbing and electrical repairs (i.e., change light bulbs). • Repairs racking. • May operate scrubber/sweeper machine. • Meets and maintains safety, quality and productivity standards. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS: • Ability to operate: band saws, drill presses, hand tools, vises, clamps, gear pullers, bearing pullers, lathes, volt amp meters, calipers and rolling stock equipment. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. • Good math and computer skills. • Competency to operate computers for sortview, RTC, HSM, VFD, and RTS systems. • Basic communication skills. WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION: • Fluency in Electricity 1 (Basic) and Electricity IV – motor controls and AC / DC Electrical Controls. May also include component rebuilding such as engines, transmissions, torque converters, differentials and final drives and hydraulic pumps and cylinders. • Assisting other mechanics as needed and completing special projects. • May be responsible for welding, brazing and cutting associated with the above duties. • Ability and knowledge to operate mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner. • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and pre-shift inspections; repair and/or clean mobile equipment as needed. • Responsible for maintaining a neat and professional appearance of self, shop and work areas. • Ability to comprehend and complete all needed paperwork in a timely and accurate manner. • Regular, reliable attendance at the worksite or assigned work location. • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Ability to troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, torque converters, differentials and final drives, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, HVAC systems and brake systems. • Ability to remove, rebuild and install hydraulic cylinders. • Ability to rebuild differentials, final drives, transmissions and torque converters. • Ability to perform major engine repairs, in-frame overhauls and/or out of frame overhauls. • Ability to look up and thoroughly understand electrical schematic diagrams. • Ability to read, comprehend, research and order parts. • Good safety and driving record • Willingness to travel and work out of town • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. • Good safety, behavior and attendance record. • The selected candidate will be required to work collectively in a team environment with other co-workers and managers. • Excellent verbal, written and comprehension communication skills. • Willingness to do other work as needed, including heavy labor. • Willingness to work outside in all weather extremes. • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including swing shift, graveyard shift, over time and weekends as required. • Ability to work near, around or on light or heavy equipment.
