Regional Engineer I

The Regional Engineer I assists the Division Engineering Director with Developing and implementing divisional engineering plans with corporate strategies and policies. The position also supports the systems build and maintenance efforts in support of the HFC network and the video, high-speed data, and voice products in the systems assigned. What you will do to contribute to the company's success • Helps the Division Engineering Director develop and implement engineering plans consistent with Cable One strategies, standards, and policies. • Supports the systems' build and maintenance efforts in support of the HFC network and the video, high-speed data, and voice products in the systems assigned. • Supports all facets of the Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance of the systems assigned. Provides aid and support to local technical departments when needed. • Provides "hands on" assistance and support in all aspects of head-end operations. Helps the Engineering Director create and maintain engineering plans and strategies consistent with Cable One goals. • Assists the local technical system staff in launches of new technical projects and initiatives. • Provides help and offers knowledge and experience to the Technical Operations Managers and local technical system staff in supporting new build activity. • Helps system staff create CIRs, ROs, and other required tasks needed to support capital projects. Supports local technical staff by teaching proper methods for capital project financial control, inventory procedures, quality control, and overall project management. • Coaches and teaches system technicians on the use of network performance monitoring and surveillance tools to help them maintain and troubleshoot the overall operation of the video, data, and voice networks. • Assists the Engineering Director in monitoring system CMTS utilization and performance. • Helps plan and implement the CMTS and physical system plant work necessary to keep within CMTS utilization expectations set forth by the SVP & Chief Network Officer. • Assists the Engineering Director in assuring product service quality through maintenance of the physical plant and optimizing the efficiency of the maintenance workforce. • Ensures the cable system consistently operates within the technical rules and regulations of the Federal Communications Commission, Manufacturer's specifications, and Cable One engineering standards. • Assists local system technical staff in completing required system and head-end testing, and monitors systems to ensure compliance with all FCC requirements. Qualifications • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or 5 to 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience and/or training must reflect the ability to successfully fulfill the job expectations of a System Technician. Must successfully complete Cable One Technical Training Center System Technician course for position. Must successfully complete Cable One Technical Training Center Advanced Technician course and NCTI Fiber Testing and Maintenance within 6 months of accepting position. • Valid driver's license and a good driving record. • Position requires up to 75% travel. • Must possess a thorough knowledge of cable technology, from the headend to, and including, the customers' premise, including methods, technologies and vendors in the following areas: • Headend Power (AC/DC), Grounding and HVAC Systems • Headend Signal Management, RF and Optical Distribution, and Test Platforms/EAS • HFC Architectures, Design, Construction and Activation • HFC Maintenance, Troubleshooting and System Optimization • FCC Proofs, Leakage/CLI, Fiber and RF Map management • Data networking experience, especially DOCSIS protocol is advantageous. Substantial PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. • Strong capital planning, budgeting, and cost management skills. • Must be an assertive, results-oriented individual with a commitment to maintaining superior service for customers. • Interpersonal skills with the ability to work successfully with all types of associates and outside contacts. • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to effectively meet deadlines. • Must be detail-oriented, well organized, and possess excellent communication skills. • Must anticipate problems and create or devise plans to rectify situations while displaying good judgment. • Substantial work ethic and energy is necessary with willingness to work very long hours and travel frequently. • Ability to work with minimum detailed direction while staying on strategy and keeping the Engineering team adequately informed. The purpose of this job is to perform a variety of entry-level engineering duties related to the management of a construction project and/or assist the Estimating department by performing quantity take-offs for construction estimates. Responsibilities • Notifies subcontractors of commencement dates; solicits delivery schedules from suppliers and expedites deliveries to avoid costly construction delays • Participates in the proposed changes process by preparing quantity take-offs • Assists in preparation of the submittal schedule as required to meet construction schedule and coordinates submissions with subcontractors; assumes overall responsibility for submittals, including checking for accuracy, transmittals to and from subcontractors, architects, and superintendents, and maintains logs; expedites delivery of submittals when necessary to avoid delays in construction; keeps project manager abreast of submissions that will impact schedule • Prepares and/or oversees preparation of a number of reports dealing with the project such as material logs, submittal logs, RFI logs, drawing logs and long- lead items log as required by owners and/or company operating procedures • Assists in the verification of monthly subcontractor payment requests • May assume a role in locating suppliers for various building materials; reviews invoices upon request to verify quantity, quality and prices for construction materials • Responds to requests for information (RFIs) from owners and subcontractors, preparing RFIs for the project architect and/or structural engineer of record when necessary to clarify technical issues concerning the project; ensures that information received in response to RFIs is routed to the applicable field superintendent and subcontractors • Assists in compiling close-out documents including as-built drawings, guarantees, warranties, service manuals and other related documents for delivery to the owner; may prepare Austin’s warranty for inclusion in this package and assist in preparing other close-out documents as assigned • When not assigned to a project, the PE II generally is assigned to the Estimating Department, preparing detailed cost estimates; may assist with value engineering activities and the pricing of those alternate procedures; interacts with a wide variety of construction professionals, including owner representatives, architects, structural engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, etc. • Participates in jobsite safety as outlined in company’s Safety & Health Manual • Other duties as assigned Requirements • B.S. in construction management/science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Internship experience with a construction company strongly preferred • Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training required (may obtain within first year of employment) • Entry level position Benefits & Compensation We offer excellent benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, and a matching 401K plan. About the position The Thinfilm Process Engineer at Texas Instruments is responsible for driving continual improvement in semiconductor manufacturing processes, particularly focusing on Thinfilm CVD or PVD processes. This role involves supporting the startup of 300mm processes, enhancing process yield, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve complex integration issues.
