HVAC Refrigeration Specialist

Please note that this position is based on our campus in Madison, WI, and requires relocation to the area. We recruit nationally and provide financial relocation assistance. We're seeking a skilled and reliable Commercial Kitchen Equipment and Refrigeration Technician to ensure our state-of-the-art kitchens and onsite bakeries operate at peak performance. In this essential role, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of commercial kitchen appliances, refrigeration systems, and HVAC equipment for our 9 million square foot campus. Your expertise will help prevent equipment failures, minimize downtime, and support the seamless operation of our world-class culinary team. Key Responsibilities • Diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC, refrigeration, and commercial cooking equipment • Install, calibrate, and optimize kitchen ventilation and appliance systems • Conduct preventive maintenance and safety inspections • Ensure compliance with OSHA, refrigeration, gas, and electrical safety standards • Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to resolve technical issues Core Equipment You'll Work On • Refrigeration: Walk-in coolers/freezers, blast chillers, ice machines • Cooking Equipment: Commercial ovens, fryers, steam kettles, tilt skillets • Ventilation & HVAC: Exhaust hoods, rooftop HVAC units, make-up air systems • Dishwashing & Sanitation: High-capacity dishwashers, automated sanitation systems Live affordably in a city known for its rising tech talent. HVAC Applications Specialist

This position is responsible for providing product information, system layout recommendations, and quotes to contractors and engineers for HVAC systems, including unitary, mini-split, hydronic, and commercial systems, along with their associated controls. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate strong leadership, sound decision-making, and technical expertise to effectively support customer needs. Key qualifications include a solid understanding of HVAC design and application principles, project management experience, engineering acumen, and foundational business management skills. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Sales Collaboration & Expertise • Build strong working relationships with both inside and outside sales teams. • Serve as a subject matter expert on product sales and application opportunities. • Collaborate with The Granite Group’s sales teams to deliver accurate pricing and application solutions. • Support sales efforts by answering product-related questions and helping drive revenue, margin, and overall sales growth.
