Electrician Job Title Electrician Department Physical Plant Posting Number req504 Description of Job Duties Job Summary: The Electrician's primary duties are performing skilled journey-level work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical circuitry and equipment. Acts as a resource for the Physical Plant department and builds effective, strong working relationships to enhance department operations and functions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • Provide support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors • Participate in correcting problems associated with wiring throughout the campus • Establish and assist in ensuring the proper working and testing of electrical wiring for the campus • Plan and complete work from initial layout to final assembly by interpreting and applying oral instructions, plans, specifications, blueprints and work orders • Organize and ensure needed supplies and equipment are on site and accounted for at the end of the workday • Assist in maintaining supply inventory of material • Assist in other areas as requested • Specific assignments are based on unit need and assigned by the supervisor which could include such things installing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing electrical systems Competencies: • Organized, manages time effectively, and keeps tasks appropriately prioritized • Ability to work with, assist, lead, and take directions from others in the interest of moving processes and programs forward to the desired outcome Work Setting: • Expectation of on-campus presence with attendance and punctuality • Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe work environment • Assist with call-back situations as called upon • Employment at will • Full-time status • 12-month appointment • Non-exempt About SWOSU: With locations in Weatherford, Yukon, Sayre, and online degree programs, SWOSU is one of the leading regional universities in the country.
