About this Position Facilities Management is looking for an energetic, skilled electrician to join our team. Repair and maintain all types of interior and exterior electrical systems and equipment; to include panel boards, breakers, fuses, fire and security systems, public address systems, lighting, and mechanical and HVAC equipment. Repair and maintain all type of motors and controllers to include bearings, seals, motor leads, rebuild shafts, troubleshoot motor integrity and motor drives Must be willing to coordinate and be resourceful in working with colleagues and project managers in building estimates, designs, and materials lists. Install all types of interior and exterior electrical systems and equipment, new conduit, and wiring, to include panel boards, breakers, lighting, and mechanical equipment. Inspect/repair/replace variable frequency drives and 3 phase pumps at any HP, change out pumps/motors greater than 1 HP and single phase. Ability to interpret blueprints and schematic drawings. The employee in this position may be required to work overtime after 4 pm, shift work, and be on a rotating standby for emergencies during non-business hours including when the university is closed and/or other events after 5 pm on weekdays, weekends, and holidays when management deems necessary. The ability to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management, regardless of weather, will be required. Perform other assigned duties related to operations, maintenance, and renovations to buildings and equipment such as preventive maintenance, light duty carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and other miscellaneous repairs and maintenance activities; and respond to emergency and urgent work. Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and not for personal use. This position regularly stands, bends, stoops, lifts above the shoulders, is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally. Required Qualifications • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date) • Electrician I – two years of prior successful work experience in commercial, industrial and/or residential electric. Electrician II – three years of prior successful work experience in commercial, industrial and/or residential electric. Electrician III – four years of prior successful work experience in commercial, industrial and/or residential electric. Post-secondary education may be substituted for 6 months of experience; preference given to post-secondary education in the electrical field. Candidate position placement is dependent upon years of experience and availability. • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses: Have before hire and maintain after hire, a valid driver’s license. A valid driver’s license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned. Electrician III – have before and maintain after hire, an Electrical Journeyman License from the Construction Industry Board of Oklahoma. • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge: Ability to work on all types of lighting systems and controls. Ability to follow instructions precisely and completely have good communication skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Commercial, industrial, and residential electrical experience. Bending conduit, industrial electronics, all types of lighting systems and controls. Working on ladders and heights, electrical calculations, and interpretation of the National Electric Code. Ability to become proficient in the use of Aim Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology within 90 days. Must work safely, adhere to all safety requirements, and promote a safe work environment. Positive team standing. Preferred Qualifications • Vocational/Technical Building Trades or Technical Field • Two years post-secondary education in the electrical field.
