Location This position is based at our Washington, D.C. plant. The working hours for this role will be Monday - Friday, 6 AM - 2:30 PM EST. Primary Purpose of Position Join Constellation as an Electrician and become an essential member of our Combined Heat and Power Facility team! You will oversee the inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of plant equipment and systems, ensuring optimal performance and safety. This includes working with motor control centers, electrical switchgear, control systems, gas conditioning systems, instrumentation, and various electrical systems. You will also manage contractor repairs on high voltage systems while supporting the Combined Heat and Power Plant Manager with various tasks as needed. Primary Duties and Accountabilities • Collaborate as a member of the Combined Heat and Power Facility Operations and Maintenance Team. • Diagnose issues with plant systems and equipment, including generators, motors, breakers, and switches ranging from 480 V to 13.8 kV. • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and systems. • Assist in planning and scheduling work for outages. • Keep accurate records of electrical calibration equipment. • Ensure compliance with industry electrical safety standards. • Assist in sourcing vendors to secure optimal value and quality for the facility. • Implement updates or modifications to plant systems and maintain control drawings and schematics. • Adhere to all approved operating, maintenance, and health and safety procedures. • Exercise judgment within defined procedures to determine appropriate actions, making decisions based on established protocols, deductive reasoning, and consultations with supervisors. • Manage and report schedules for both outage and non-outage work scopes. • Support the administration and execution of the preventative maintenance program. • Maintain the plant's electrical inventory control system. • Perform calibrations and testing of equipment, keeping thorough records. • Take on additional duties as assigned, which may include supporting mechanical maintenance, calibrations, and general housekeeping. • This position may require overtime to accommodate vacations, plant outages, or emergency work. Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma and a minimum of 5 years of electrical maintenance experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. • Technical trades training is essential (trade or military), such as electrical certifications or similar qualifications. • Strong understanding of medium voltage systems (480 volts to 13.8 kV) and their maintenance. • Solid electrical and mechanical aptitude with a foundational knowledge of steam plants and combustion turbines. • Able to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). • Mechanical and electrical skills, with experience working with switching up to 480 volts. • Experience in analytical troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis. • Computer proficiency, particularly in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. • Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, talk, hear, and use hands consistently. • Must be able to climb ladders, reach with hands and arms, and maintain balance. • Ability to stoop, crawl, and bend; capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. • Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
