Job Title: Electrical Engineering Technician Location: Pax River, MD Clearance: Minimum of a Secret Clearance Position Overview Kwaan Bear IT Solutions (KBITS) is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to support DoD facility and infrastructure projects from design through construction. The Technician will provide hands-on technical support, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems while ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local codes as well as DoD/NAVFAC standards. The position requires experience in supporting mission-critical facilities, strict adherence to safety requirements, and the ability to operate in a structured contract environment. Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvide technical support for electrical engineering and construction projects, including system installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance. • Assist in the preparation, modification, and review of electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and construction documents. • Support both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build project delivery methods in coordination with engineers, contractors, and government representatives. • Review and process contractor submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs) for compliance with design intent and DoD standards. • Inspect, test, and validate electrical systems (power distribution, lighting, low-voltage, and backup power systems) for compliance with NEC, UFC, and NAVFAC requirements. • Utilize AutoCAD and electrical design software to update as-built drawings and support technical documentation. • Assist in estimating materials, labor, and time requirements for electrical tasks. • Prepare technical reports, inspection records, and provide oral/written briefings to Program Managers, Contracting Officers, and Government stakeholders. • Adhere to all safety regulations, including OSHA and NFPA 70E, and enforce safe work practices in the field. Required Qualifications • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of electrical technician experience supporting facility design, construction, or sustainment projects. DoD or federal contract experience strongly preferred. • Technical Knowledge: • Strong understanding of Federal, State, and Local electrical codes (NEC, UFC, NFPA). • Experience with electrical distribution systems, power panels, generators, lighting, and grounding/bonding systems. • Familiarity with AutoCAD and electrical design tools (ETAP, SKM, or equivalent). • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. • Certifications: OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, or equivalent electrical safety certifications preferred. • Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance (higher clearance may be required based on contract). • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree, vocational certificate, or military technical training in electrical systems highly desirable. Physical & Additional Requirements • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and work in construction/field environments (indoor/outdoor). • Willingness to travel to government installations within the NAVFAC Washington Area of Responsibility (or as contract requires). • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively interface with military, government, and contractor personnel.
