Senior Electrical / Electronic Engineer

We are headquartered in Virginia Beach, VA. We are seeking a Senior Electrical / Electronic Engineer to support our Navy customer in Pax River, MD. Security Clearance: Applicants must be eligible to hold an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET personnel security clearance. Position/Job Description: General Tasking Description: Conduct concept Studies and Feasibility Studies: Conduct analysis and contribute to concept and feasibility studies related to electrical systems for ships, boats, and craft. Design and Construction Activities: Collaborate in contract design activities, detail design, and construction activities, ensuring efficient and effective electrical system integration. In-Service Ship Design: Participate in in-service ship design and engineering activities, providing expertise in electrical systems for maintenance and upgrades. Shipboard Installation Support: Offer support for shipboard electrical system installations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and performance requirements. Special Studies: Engage in special studies that address specific electrical system challenges and opportunities in shipbuilding. The employee shall facilitate and provide the required technical information expertise to Integrated Process Teams (IPTs), special advisory boards, off-sites, working groups and audit teams. The employee shall perform research and work along with USCG, ABS, and other key stakeholders, such as the Military Sealift Command (MSC). Additional Duties: Power Distribution Systems: Design and analyze power distribution systems for ships, considering safety, redundancy, and operational efficiency. Electrical System Integration: Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other ship systems. Electrical Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to electrical safety regulations and standards throughout the shipbuilding process. Shipboard Testing: Support shipboard testing of electrical systems, verifying performance and functionality. Electrical System Optimization: Implement strategies to optimize electrical system performance, energy efficiency, and reliability. Leadership and Mentorship : Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior electrical engineers in the shipbuilding team. In-service ship design and engineering activities; shipboard installation support; and special studies related to ships/boats/craft, ship systems and/or shipboard equipment. Experience Requirements: 15 years of providing electrical / electronic support to the US Navy. AND a Masters OR 20 years of providing electrical / electronic support to the US Navy. AND a Bachelors. Educational & Certification Requirements: A bachelor's OR master's degree in computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering with the applicable years of experience. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION Performs advanced technical/engineering problem solving in support of nuclear plant operations. Responsible for technical decisions. Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement engineering analysis, activities and programs. Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve equipment and system problems. Provide complete task management of engineering issues. Perform engineering tasks as assigned by supervision applying engineering principles. Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work ensuring proper configuration management and assuring that standard design criteria, practices, procedures and codes are used in preparation of plans and specifications. Perform independent research, reviews, studies and analyses in support of technical projects and programs. Recommend equipment, new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, correct design or material flaws, or comply with changes in codes or regulations. All other job assignments and/or duties pursuant to company policy or as directed by management to include but not limited to: (Emergency Response duties and/or coverage, Department duty coverage and/or call out, and positions outside of department in support of outage activities etc.) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Mid-level E02 Engineer Bachelor&rsquos degree in engineering (chemical, civil/structural, electrical, industrial, mechanical or nuclear) with 2 years of nuclear or related engineering experience Maintain minimum access requirements or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Senior E03 Engineer Bachelor&rsquos degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical or Nuclear) with 5 years of nuclear experience or related engineering experience Maintain minimum access requirement or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Professional Engineer Registration Advanced technical degree or related coursework This role will support power uprates at nuclear power plants. The job will involve evaluating electrical systems for a power uprate, and managing vendor work for system evaluations.
