Electrician- Winchester, VA

Overview: A Licensed or Non-Licensed Electrician installs basic electrical equipment and systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. You will be responsible for: • Assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components and devices associated with electrical equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans. • Installing and mounting electronic controls, device, panels, sensors, and components. • Performing interlock wiring as required. • Testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices. • Inspecting installation sites and studying work orders, building plans, and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements and installation procedures. • Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. • Reading contract drawings. • Trouble shooting EMS systems, smart breakers, and relays. Qualifications / Skills Sets / Expectations: • Four (4) years of experience working in the electrical industry. High School diploma or GED required. • Must successfully pass a background check and drug test • High School Diploma or GED • Reliable Transportation • Must be committed to excellence and generate a high quality of work. • Must consistently report to work on time, work well with other employees to accomplish a common goal, and maintain a safe work environment. • Must wear an M.C. Dean, Inc. hard hat and safety glasses at all times while on the job site. • Must wear OSHA approved boot length pants and a shirt that covers the shoulders by seven (7) inches. These are not provided by the Company. • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to work on M.C. Dean, Inc. projects anywhere. • Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record. Physical Abilities: • Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time. • Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance. • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders. • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis. • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English. • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools. • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events). • See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Desired Skills: • Possess a journeyman's license in the appropriate jurisdiction. • Current Journeyman's license is preferred.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, LICENSURE: 1. High School Diploma or GED required. 2. Electrical Certification is required. Journeyman Electrician highly desirable. 3. Four to five years of experience in the electrical field required. 4. Previous general maintenance experience required. 5. Valid driver’s license required. JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1. Follows and supports the policies and procedures established by SVWC. 8. Maintain all certifications and education required for electrical licensure. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Electrical design build, repair and troubleshooting equipment and systems to optimize energy use. 2. Basic installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and systems. 3. Operates wide variety of equipment such as hand tools, PDA, and diagnostic hardware to perform work. 4. Maintains, and repairs all computerized electronic and direct digital control devices related to electrical systems. 5. Operates and maintains various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments. 6. Calls vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies, recommends purchases and suppliers. 7. Reads and interprets blueprints, piping, sketches, schematics and wiring diagrams. 8. General maintenance duties, i.e., repair clogged toilets/sinks, replace lightbulbs, assist with resident moves, and event setups, hang pictures and deliver packages. 9. Utilize electronic work order program and related technology to ensure work requests are completed timely, accurately, and according to policy and procedures. 10. Conducts scheduled preventive maintenance throughout the community and for all equipment. 11. Demonstrate a commitment to safety by following safety rules and guidelines, follow good housekeeping practices, take proper care of equipment, and perform job duties and responsibilities in a safe and responsible manner. 12. Show commitment to delivery of quality service and make continuous efforts to improve the operations of the department. 13. Communicate effectively with residents, family members, visitors, and co-workers. Give complete and timely responses and always be respectful and courteous while following through with communication efforts. 14.
