This position is responsible for maintaining the University electrical system to the highest standard while providing quality customer service. Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to: •Providing service and repairs to the electrical distribution system •Diagnosing problems, repairing and maintaining a wide variety of electrical equipment including food service, laboratory and card access systems •Installing a variety of new equipment along with the complete electrical circuits to the equipment •Planning of work loads based on priorities •Providing accurate and timely reports •Ordering of electrical equipment, replacement parts, and any supplies needed to maintain the ability to respond to normal and emergency tasks •Coordinating with contractors and engineering staff to assure accomplishment of various electrical projects •Providing of leadership in ensuring the JMU's electrical systems are maintained Qualifications: •Advanced electrician skills including the use of hand and power tools, conduit benders, meters, testers, recording devices and circuit tracers •Ability to read and work from blueprints •Ability to diagnose, service and repair all types of electrical equipment •High knowledge of all aspects of electric including singer phase, three phase and their applications •Extensive knowledge of electrical equipment and systems, practices and code compliance •Must have a Master Electrician Certification or obtain within 1 year of being hired •Valid driver's license •Availability to fulfill required rotating on-call responsibilities •Ability to to accommodate any necessary temporary shift demands or be on stand by for special events Additional Posting Information: Conditions of Employment: Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check and an acceptable MVR.
