Job Description: We are seeking an Electrical Systems Manager to lead our engineering functions and ensure a modern, reliable, and efficient electric distribution system. This role requires expertise in engineering, system planning, inspection, and maintenance to optimize service reliability and operational efficiency. Duties and Responsibilities: • Engineering Oversight: Direct and manage all engineering activities, ensuring compliance with established policies, plans, and objectives. • System Design & Standards: Monitor work orders, construction costs, and adherence to engineering standards. • Outage Analysis & Planning: Analyze service interruption reports, voltage complaints, and outage records to develop system improvements. • Industrial Load Support: Assist industrial engineers and external partners in determining power requirements, rates, service voltage, and transformer sizing for large power services. • Software Utilization: Utilize software for load allocation, voltage drop, fault current, sectionalizing, and capacitor placement. • Load Management: Develop and implement load management programs to reduce demand during peak periods. • Contractor Coordination: Assist in bidding of subcontractors for major work plans. • Construction Inspection: Ensure conformance to Rural Utility System (RUS) specifications through inspections of major and minor projects. • System Protection & Planning: Research, design, and implement protection schemes, fuse coordination, and system enhancements. Maintain sectionalizing coordination. Review and mitigate power quality issues. • Long Range Resource Plan: Develop and implement the long-range resource plan to ensure the cooperative has the necessary infrastructure and technology to meet current and future energy demands. This includes analyzing industry trends, forecasting resource needs, and aligning strategies with organizational goals to maintain reliability, efficiency, and sustainability. • Substation & Feeder Analysis: Monitor the loading of substations and distribution feeders. • Mapping & Documentation: Oversee the maintenance and updating of the cooperative's electrical mapping system. • Budgeting & Planning: Develop short- and long-term work plans, annual budgets, and capital additions based on current conditions and growth projections. • Safety & Compliance: Promote safety and ensure compliance with National Electric Safety Code, OSHA regulations, and industry standards. • Technical Support: Provide expertise in voltage drop analysis, fault current analysis, motor start analysis, and other engineering-related areas. • Board & Member Engagement: Attend Board of Directors meetings and the annual membership meeting. • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry trends and attend training sessions, seminars, and professional meetings. • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as required to support the cooperative's mission and operational needs.
