Perform skilled maintenance tasks with a primary emphasis on electrical maintenance related to maintenance repairs, rehabilitation and construction projects for buildings, equipment and systems. Perform skilled labor involving general maintenance skills including rough and finish carpentry, plumbing, painting and mechanical work. Work is inspected for satisfactory compliance with instructions, although normal repairs and work assignments are made without supervision or close review. Duties/Responsibilities • Perform electrical tasks related to maintenance, repairs, rehabilitation and construction projects for buildings, equipment, and systems. • Study and interpret wiring diagrams and floor plans. • Connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers and other components. • Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment such as measuring devices, power tools and testing equipment, including oscilloscopes, ammeters and test lamps. • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment such as motors. • Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. • Work from ladders, scaffolds and roofs, to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. • Perform traditional electrician’s service work such as changing out switches, receptacles, lamps, ballasts and light fixtures. • Tend to the preventive and general needs for maintenance of the University's structures, equipment, furnishings, systems, and for various assignments for repair and rehabilitation projects. • Work from blueprints, drawings, work orders or oral instructions to construct and repair University assets. • Plan and execute basic building maintenance and renovation projects, determine tasks, make layouts, and estimate materials and labor costs. • Assemble furniture, seats and other equipment. • Set up furniture and equipment for special and academic events. • Perform carpentry tasks related to maintenance, repair, rehabilitation and construction projects for buildings, equipment, furniture, and systems. • Perform plumbing tasks related to maintenance, repair, rehabilitation and construction projects for buildings, equipment, and systems. • Repair and/or install windows, doors, partitions, coiling components, floor tiles, cove base, stair treads, wall coverings and roofs. • Perform hand and bench work in the various maintenance shops.
