Job Summary EFI-Solutions is seeking a person with electrical experience to join our union shop floor. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial electrical systems, demonstrating proficiency in the installation of electrical components. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical schematics and the ability to work with high-voltage systems. The individual will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical work is performed safely and in compliance with relevant codes and standards. Also other duties as assigned. Duties • Install electrical systems and equipment in industrial settings. • Utilize hand tools, power tools, voltmeters, and ammeters to effectively troubleshoot electrical issues. • Read and interpret electrical schematics to ensure accurate installation and repairs. • Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues before they become problems. • Collaborate with other tradespeople on construction projects, including frame carpentry tasks as needed. • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and practices while performing all tasks. • Experience • Familiarity with high voltage systems and the ability to handle related tasks safely. • Proficiency in using various hand tools and power tools relevant to electrical work. • Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. • Relevant certifications or licenses in electrical work are a plus but not mandatory. Position Overview The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire an Electrician for the Murray Developmental Center located in Centralia, Illinois to receive day-to-day guidance and assignments from the Chief Stationary Engineer. Performs journey level electrical work relating to the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of extensive electrical systems and equipment for Murray Developmental Center. Travels in performance of job duties. Essential Functions • Receives day-to-day guidance and assignments from the Chief Stationary Engineer at the Murray Developmental Center. • Performs preventive maintenance and repair of the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system. • Installs and maintains battery systems ensuring proper function and integrity of batteries and that the battery charging systems are working correctly. • Performs preventing maintenance activities on 400HZ Motor Generators, including lubrication, and checking units for excessive vibration and noise. • Changes building ballasts and bulbs. • Assists other facilities in the Central & Southern Region in installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of extensive electrical systems and equipment. • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school. • Requires successful completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program and four (4) years full-time journey level electrician experience OR eight (8) years of full-time journey level electrician experience. Conditions of Employment • Requires ability to climb stairs and ladders, work from heights (on ladders, scaffold, platforms, and lifts), stand for long periods, and lift and move heavy equipment, materials, structures and furniture up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance. • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties. • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers. • Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays. • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check. • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law. • All conditions of employment listed are incorporated and related to any of the job duties as listed in the job description.
