POSITION SUMMARY: The Electrician, under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, is responsible for the installation of new electrical applications and repair of existing electrical installations on both interior and exterior portions of all Kewadin Casino properties. The position is responsible for providing attentive, cheerful, courteous, professional customer service to all customers, internal and external, striving to always exceed their expectations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following) • Must have knowledge of and comply with the State of Michigan electrical codes. • Responsible for installation of new fixtures and outlets. • Must be able to provide cost estimates for completion of electrical projects including supplies needed. • Must be able to trace out short circuits in wiring, using test meter to locate and correct the issue. • Must be able to strip insulation from wire ends, using wire stripping pliers, and attach wires to terminals for subsequent soldering. • Must be able to examine electrical units for loose connections and broken insulation and tighten connections, using hand tools. • Ability to execute the installation of, or updating controllers and panels, using all necessary equipment. • Ability to cut metal components for installation. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes, but is not limited to, the following) • Maintains inventory of electrical parts and supplies. • Maintains stock inventory in electrician vehicle to be prepared for emergencies. • All other job-related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position medium with lifting of 50 pounds maximum and frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds. Physical factors include frequent standing, lifting/carrying, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, manual handling, use of near vision, depth perception, color vision, driving; occasional walking, sitting, pushing/pulling, climbing, use of hearing, smell, midrange/far vision and bending. Working conditions include frequent exposure to noise and occasional exposure to weather, extreme heat/cold, wet/humidity, vibration and air quality. Potential hazards include constant exposure to electric shock; frequent equipment use; occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high exposed places, infectious exposure and client contact. Personal Protection Equipment/Clothing needed to perform job include ear protection, eye protection, steel toed boots or shoes and electrical specific tools REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the building maintenance or construction field required. Certification/License: Journeyman Certification required. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with annual driver's license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Must have math skills. Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or structures. Must understand that the position requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks. Must have excellent public relation/customer service skills and be able to exhibit friendly and positive attitude and establish and maintain effective communication with co-workers and supervisors. Must be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisory personnel, coworkers and the general public. Must be able to work extended hours when needed. Must be flexible and available to work various shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to work under pressure and handle difficult situations. Must have organizational skills and be able to plan, prioritize and manage work load to meet goals in a timely manner. Native American preferred.
