System Upgrades and Modifications: Upgrade and modify existing electrical systems to improve performance or meet new requirements, such as adding outlets or equipment. • Safety Protocols: Adhere to strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, to ensure the safety of the work environment. Collaboration: Work closely with other contractors, engineers, and team members to complete projects on time and within budget. • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to reduce downtime and increase operational efficiency. • Emergency Response: Provide on-call support for emergency electrical repairs, ensuring quick response and resolution of critical issues. Factory Electrician/Instrument Tech Apprentice

Michigan Sugar Company has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Factory Electrician/Instrument Tech Apprentice, located at the Bay City Factory. Job Summary: This Factory E/I Apprentice requires a combination of electrical, instrumentation, programming, and mechanical skills. The primary duty of this position will be to provide electrical and instrumentation support to the Factory as needed to sustain sugar production operations and maintenance. The electrical and instrumentation support will include installation and maintenance of a wide variety of sugar production equipment and other electrical or instrumentation devices. The instrumentation/programming support will include, but will not be limited to sugar production, maintenance (hardware and software), and VFD installation/programing. Due to the nature of sugar production operations, shift work and overtime may be required. Primary Responsibilities: • Keep electrical systems running to prevent minimum down time in process • Work on upgrading or adding new electrical systems • Maintain existing electrical systems • Perform all electrical and instrumentation work on all equipment and buildings keeping them in proper operating condition • Assist in mechanical or fabrication projects when the need arises • Execute projects with minimal guidance • Lead small work crews during repair season. • Willing to go to college and obtain a certificate of Instrumentation Position Qualifications: • State of Michigan Electrical License as a Journeyman or Master Electrician • Minimum 5 years industrial electrical experience • Industrial experience, including knowledge in motor control, relay logic, PLC logic and computer based motor and process control system • High School diploma or equivalent • Ability to perform physically demanding work Key Competencies: • Ability to quickly problem solve and make decisions • Demonstrated personal leadership and positive can-do attitude • Flexible and able to work in fast paced and varying environments • Ability to work well with others in a team environment • Provides model behavior to demonstrate corporate value • Leading the self by demonstrating ethics and integrity, displaying drive and purpose, demonstrated capability to learn, managing self, increasing self-awareness NOTE: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by staff assigned to this position.
