About the position The Licensed Electrician in Maintenance Plant Operations is responsible for ensuring that all electrical equipment within the hospital is maintained in optimal condition. This role involves a variety of tasks including the installation, repair, and maintenance of the hospital's electrical systems and equipment. The electrician will work on plant electrical systems, which encompass power distribution and branch circuits, lighting distribution and branch circuits, motors and motor circuits, as well as associated equipment devices. Additionally, the role requires the installation, repair, maintenance, and operation of plant emergency generation equipment and its associated distribution systems, equipment, and devices. In this position, the electrician will also be tasked with troubleshooting problems in electrical and electronic systems and equipment. This includes assembling, installing, repairing, and maintaining various mechanical systems and equipment. The electrician will serve as a resource for other maintenance staff, providing assistance and guidance regarding electrical issues. A critical aspect of the job is the ability to read, interpret, and utilize blueprints and schematics, ensuring compliance with applicable electrical and building codes. The role demands a high level of critical thinking and decisive judgment, as the electrician will often work with minimal supervision in a potentially stressful environment. The position is full-time with varied shifts, requiring flexibility and adaptability to meet the operational needs of the hospital. Requirements • 2 years post high school vocational/specialized training as required by State of Michigan (Preferred) , • Valid Electrician License (Required) , • Valid State of Michigan Drivers License (Required) , • At least 3 years of related work experience (Required) , • Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment , • Ability to work with minimal supervision , • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
